Question about OOO scaling..

Post » Sun Mar 27, 2011 4:07 am

Hi all. How scaled does OOO make the main quest areas and events (e.g. the Kvatch portal, the ambush at the imperial city..)? Is it fully static, a small range, a big range, or blanket scaling?

The MQ gets progressively harder with OOO - which goes for the other quest lines as well. See http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/820948-scaling-overhaul-comparison/ for an overview of how OOO is set up regarding scaling.

Thanks :) I have a good idea of how OOO scaling in general is done (mainly, scales within a large range.. for example bandit camp scales between 1-17 and a deep tomb area might be 15-32). And then other areas are still total level scaling (e.g. vampires, and I think the nonessential Oblivion portals).

But I have seen no information on the OOO scaling rules for the main quest in particular. By "the MQ gets progressively harder with OOO" does that mean it gets harder with character level, or with the advancement of the plot? Or both?

It means that doing Kvatch with a lvl 1 char is close to impossible - you should wait a couple of levels before starting it. On the other end of the spectrum the char must have a rather high level to attempt, say, Paradise. In short, it gets harder with the advancement of the plot. Even shorter: progressively harder.

Yay! I suspected this but thank you for confirming. And curiously enough I did do Kvatch at level 1 on one character, though it was pretty nasty..

That's why I generally avoid giving level recommendations for starting quests etc. It depends on so many factors that it's close to impossible.

Actually, now that I look it up, he died in the attempt :). So it is a wise level recommendation. Promising character, too, but it was an experiment. Made it to the last area in front of the chapel, too..
