Question about packaging...

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 8:44 pm

Will the BRINK packaging contain a one-time-use code that unlocks the multiplayer?

Like what MOH, HomeFront, and a couple other games have had. I want to use this game on multiple accounts, and I didn't want to be restricted to playing on one account.

Those codes are such a rip off. Video game companies just trying to get more money. I am not sure about your question though.

False, if anything your getting it for free because your just paying off the $5.00 off of the original price, just to get something free.

As far as I'm aware, Bethesda don't do this.

And they're not a rip-off.

If you buy the game new, you don't have to pay extra. If you buy it second hand, that means you're getting a copy of the game without paying the developers for it. Legally, it's not piracy, but for them, it may as well be.

The rip off is when the store doesn't warn you that you'll have to pay extra, or when the box doesn't say a code is needed for online play. Pretty sure selling a second hand game in NZ without warning the buyer of that would be illegal though, so I'm fine.

What are you talking about? Games are $60 and I pay $50 a year for xbox live. Then lets say I buy a used Bad Company 2 then I have to pay again to pay to play online.

Edit: Lets take dead space for now. My brother bought it and I wanted to try the online. Nope I cant because I have to pay for it just play once...

I'd much rather pay $10 for all the maps released in Bad Company than pay $15 for each map pack in games like Halo and Call of Duty, which has 3-4 maps each.

Edit: There's a 2 day pass to play Dead Space online, so you don't have to pay to play it just once. And trust me, you'd be a helluva lot better off if you just played Left 4 Dead.

What are YOU talking about? Im talking about video games, NOT service. Im talking about codes that they give away when they do pre-orders on games.

The OP isnt talking about that though. Then I agree with you on the pre orders but he is talking about the codes like in dead space 2 where you get a code in order to play online.

For consoles, I don't think so. For PC's, there will most likely be some kind of CD key.

Let's get this all wrapped up, no. Bethesda and Splash Damage are too smart for that gimmick. They confirmed (sorry, can't find link now  ) that there will be no pay to play.
