A question about playing Skyrim on the consoles.

Post » Tue Oct 18, 2011 3:11 am

I have a rather old xbox 360 (one of the original ones I believe) do you think they'll be any kind of problem with my old xbox running Skyrim? It may sound like a dumb question but its a genuine concern for me. :cryvaultboy:

Pray for no red ring.

I've already had that problem when I played Fallout 3 and sent it to the factory and they fixed it, haven't had trouble since then.

I'm sure the hardware is being pushed to it's limit and I suspect many a seasoned console will go belly up because of over heating. My advice is to follow your console care guide and turn it off for 15 min after every hour of continuous play.

The only problem I'd imagine would be the RROD, otherwise I can't forsee much problems, then again, I've never used he old 360.

I can't see any reason why there would be, outside of the HD may not be large enough to install etc... can't recall but weren't those only like 8 or 16 GB on launch?

You should be fine. Just make sure there is good air ventilation.

Nahh, it shouldn't be. An Xbox is an Xbox, truly, no matter the model. Sure, the newer ones have improvements, but nothing drastically game changing. It'll be fine :)
EDIT: Just watch the heat, as others have said. This game will push any xbox to it's limit. Give it brakes, ect.

The tech in the old xbox is exactly the same as the one in newer versions only difference is newer ones has their parts integrated in the motherboard which create less heat which creates less chance of fail rate.

I've had similar thoughts. I considerd pre-ordering the PC version just incase. But I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I hope for both our sakes there is no problem. I've waited years for this game and took a week worth of vacation time for the week following release. If my Xbox won't play Skyrim I might have to pull a B&E on someone who has an elite. lol

I hear ya man, to be honest I've been worrying about this same thing in the last week or so.. My box is also pretty damn close to 'original', maybe a year from release.. Just gotta treat it like its glass and pray it keeps going for at least another year lol. :obliviongate:

I've played mine continuously for 16 hours or so with New Vegas. Every once in a while the VATS locks up, but I think that's a game rather than system glitch. I think it will be fine. I try to install games to keep the disc from constantly spinning, that seems to help the heat.
