question about Side Bets

Post » Fri May 07, 2010 7:33 pm

I'm confused about the quest Side Bets. What is the significance of investigating each faction, and what does the Yes-Man mean by "ignoring" them?

Thanks,
Rob

Because siding with Yes Man is the anarchistic/You rule Vegas independant route (Mr. House is the Law and Order capitalist independant Vegas) Yes Man wants you to decide which factions you want relations with, or to ignore/kill them off.

You'll be checking out:

The Great Khans
Brotherhood of Steel
Boomers
and The Kings IIRC
Also each Vegas Family.

I did the BOS quests, and they like me now, but my only option when speaking with Yes Man is that I'm familiar with them and they should be ignored. Why don't I have the option to tell Yes Man that I want relations with the BOS?

I don't think it's an option, Yes Man isn't a fan (as you'll see by his dialog choices).

You can completely ignore all of them and quickly finish the Side Bets quest. If you do maintain relationships with a couple factions, they'll fight with you at the Hoover Dam battle. Otherwise... it's just all you (and the NCR if you haven't angered them too, otherwise... good luck on that).

I went the Yes Man route on my last playtrough, and i got friendly with the BoS too. I wanted to ignore them, and he, understandable, wasn't too happy about it. I mean he was, but in a sarcastic manner :D But for some reason BoS was not mentioned in the ending slides at all. What, did McNamara get depressed seeing Securitron's everywhere and order a new lockdown? :D
