Question about skill checks

Post » Thu Feb 25, 2010 3:00 pm

I'm really annoyed by the fact that the game tells us what % we need to pass a skill check in game so I've been looking for a way not to display this information. Unfortunately as far as I can tell it would mean editing almost every quests in the game in order to remove the numbers from topic entries (shouldn't mess things up since the checks proper are listed under conditions below but I haven't tried it out yet).

Anyhow, I wonder if there is an easier and less intrusive way to achieve this as I find it distracting and immersion breaking but don't really feel like editing every quest and dialogue file just yet...

What I'd like to do is to remove the numbers but leave the skill name in so it would be possible to tell when a skill check happens. Any suggestions are welcome.

I'm fairly positive you're going to have to svck it up and do it all manually, you can't really do much with dialogue outside the given tools.

On the bright side you should be able to use FNVEdit to make all the changes if you go through with it, it would be considerably faster then waiting for the G.E.C.K. doing it's stupid slow quests thing (although the NV version is considerably faster thankfully).

Actually on second thought I don't think you can filter FNVEdit for dialogue, trudging through the G.E.C.K. it is :shakehead:

That's what I assumed. Thanks for taking the time to post. I guess I'll have to do it one dialogue at a time. Talk about time consuming modifications...
