Question about Skyrim's graphics?

Post » Sat Aug 10, 2013 10:59 am

Actually, Skyrim has ruined other games for me. If graphics aren't up to par with Skyrim's, I lose interest fast. Good example would be Far Cry 3. Picked it up when it hit $19.99 at Walmart. Forced myself to play it for an hour before I put it down. Graphics were awful compared to Skyrim and not being able to sheath/holster your weapon was extremely annoying.

huh? on PS3 Far Cry looked way better than Skyrim. PC, I dont know about far cry as I only have Skyrim on PC but on ps3 Skyrim looks like ass. I never had any of "oh wow, that's amazing" moments but in Far Cry 3 there were tons.

Huh? The game doesn't have bad graphics... even on console. The NPCs look like [censored]e but apart from that it's a good looking game.

Only if you're on an HDTV, yes. I played Skyrim on both a SDTV and an HDTV back when i played it on PS3 so i can tell.

I play on Xbox 360. Far Cry 3 graphics on that platform sub par compared to Skyrim. Assasin's Creed 3 the same way. Ubisoft, imo, dumbed down the graphics in both games, for the ability to add more content. Seriously, load up Assassin's Creed 2 or any of its expansions, and Assassin's Creed 3, and note how much crisper the graphics on Assasin's Creed 2 is! It's mind boggling! Can anyone explain that?

This may come as a shock to you but the PS3 and Xbox 360 are nearly ten years old :bonk:

Of course it could look better but given the huge limitations those two systems have now Far Cry 3 looks pretty damn good on em.

I'm talking about the regression of graphics quality of two games made by the same studio, and the older game having better graphics than the new one. That seems illogical.

Whereas, Bethesda, no matter what you have to say about content or what not, consistently provides you with a better graphical experience, regardless what platform you are on.

Morrowind-Oblivion-Skyrim. Obvious graphic escalation on Xbox 360. :)

Even still Far Cry 3 looks better than Skyrim on console and on PC. The world has much more lush and vibrant colors.
