Question about tes\skyrim nexus

Post » Fri Feb 28, 2014 1:08 pm

Am I the only one unable to reach these websites? Is there a way to check without having to make a topic?

The negative comments here about the Nexus or NMM always piss me off. Seriously, to [censored] about a free service is lousy. Don't use it if you are so unhappy.

Get over it. I did. People have the right to complain.

Yes, is very bad to complain about a FREE service ! If there is something you don't like, offer positive suggestions as to how to improve it, and offer to help do the work ! I suspect many people don't realize all the work that has gone into all the services we use to mod, for free ! Back in my early days of the internet, you had to pay a lot just to use the internet, and most of the good sites you had to pay a small fee to just access them ! I remember monthly phone bills of $200-$400 , just from using the internet ! LoL

Even though they have expanded to other games and have ads and premium member levels ( to cover server costs and pay salaries), it is still essentially a fan founded/run site. I guess I am old. I can remember when it was started. What would TES modding be without it?

Sometimes inaccessible, yes.

But slow? Never my experience at all. I'm in Europe, and when they respond normally, even (manual) downloads of large files from the US West Coast Seattle or San Jose servers usually come in at maximum WARP which is 1000+ KB/s for my DSL line. That is actually excellent.

Dallas and Washington servers also very good, in my experience. I find the Salt Lake servers are somewhat more unreliable in comparison to the other US servers.

Bandwagon jumping is so annoying.

But then so is ass kissing.

If the Nexus is down, there are always other options: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1469452-where-can-i-uploaddownload-skyrim-pluginsmods/

Sure, the Nexus has the largest selection but they're far from being the only game in town. It's actually good practice to upload stuff to multiple sites just in case one goes down.

I appreciate the defence, but I wouldn't worry about it. Haters gonna hate. And most haters don't have a clue about anything to do with this stuff, so it doesn't irk me much. I don't mind people being negative, it's just when they're rude about it that I get bent out of shape.

I, for one, do not complain about this service. It is stable and works very well. Sometimes there are downtimes, but hey, it's free. I could be complaining if I had download capped to 1kb, but I don't. And anyways, as soon as I get a job I'm going to go premium to support the nexus :)

Dark0ne answered in post #5, I am closing this before there are problems with cross forum trolling - which we don't allow.
