Question about the most current update

Post » Sat Feb 06, 2016 10:20 pm

i had a digital download copy and i'm on the xbox, i'm worried about an issue with the new patch so i want to buy a hard copy of the game since i only have the digital version right now, if i buy a hard copy of the game will it be "pre" most current update?, i'm talking about update coming to consoles in the next couple days.

AFAIK, the only time that Bethesda will update their hard copies is when the Game of the Year version comes out. So it should contain the data from when the game first launched not patch 1.2.

Any hard copy you buy will pretty much fall in the category of unplayable.

Day zero patches are there for a reason.

I was given a hard copy for Christmas and the new patch seems to be in effect because I can see what my settlers are assigned to. I registered it on Steam and thinkn Steam updated for me.

Not all the data is on the disk with PC, you would have had a fairly sizable download, including the most recent update.

Your disc contains game data from day 1.

Then your hardware installed it to your harddrive.

Then your hardware appends it when a new update is being sent.

Your disc has no business anymore once it's installed other than being a physical license of the game and is not capable of rewriting data.

Yea no matter if you have a hard copy or a digital copy on the consuls (xbox or ps4) the updates will occur the same way. If you are connected to the internet, the systems will not let you play unless you download the most recent update (some games will let you opt out of updating, warning that any online content will be unplayable, which is no problem for fallout 4). Generally speaking, the most effective way of ensuring the game doesn't update is to ensure you don't have auto update enabled, and then disconnect your system from the internet before you try and play fallout.

Yeh I know games normally update hard disk or not etc. I just had a terribly, stupid (should I say blonde moment?) moment yesterday... I cant really explain how I thought otherwise haha.
