A question about the Nerevarine and Corprus

Post » Tue Nov 09, 2010 4:29 am

Is the Nerevarine immortal due to the positive effects of Corprus? I was talking to Divath Fyr about it, and the way he described the situation made it sound like Corprus' good side effects make the recipient immortal. If so, that would be wicked sweet.

The nerevarine still has corprus disease, but without the harsh symptoms (loss of sanity, mind, horrific tumors, and so on). You kept the good parts which is
Immortality
Immunity is all diseases
A definite sign you will become the nerevarine (debatable)

So, the Nerevarine can't die of old age? Meaning that it is possible that another TES could involve the Nerevarine. Which would be pretty sweet.

Well, you could make up your own story that the nerevarine was the CoC

True, but I would prefer to have an actual canon story. Maybe Nerevarine in Akavir. Although he/she will probably be dead once he/she gets there.

The nerevarine killed and survived many encounters with gods and daedric princes. The nerevarine should be able to hold his own.

Well, yeah, but I highly doubt that one Nerevarine can take on an entire continent. Hell, the only race in Akavir that does not sound violent would probably be the monkey people.

Plus it seems like a way for Bethesda to wrap up a loose end should they choose to. Which I hope they don't.

I like the Nerevarine.

The nerevarine is gone, regardless if it died or not.

It's possible, but it's probably not gonna happen.

Even though he's technically not dead, Bethesda http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DroppedABridgeOnHim and all the other main characters of their games.

The CoC will most likely make an appearance in future games, however. I assume he will have mantled Sheogorath completely by then, so he will sound exactly like the previous Sheogorath(assuming the same voice actor is used) and, if they go back to Daggerfall style Daedric summoning, will look exactly like the previous Sheogorath(except for changes due to artitistic style).

Is there anything to suggest the corprus will whither and, with it, the Nerevarine?

Not from what I've heard over the years. Most likely, the Nerevarine stayed a Highlander-type immortal who can still die if someone decapitates him or her. All the other corprus victims in Fyr's corprusarium died when Fyr tried to cure them, so they probably continued to live in the corprusarium right until the Ministry fell and Red Mountain cooked off. Everyone else affiliated with the Sixth House probably died when Dagoth Ur was defeated, and the Blight ended.

Considering your lack of, well, flesh, I don't think you can get corpus.

Truth be told, we don't know how violent or hostile they'd be. And I doubt that the Akaviri are really savage enough to endlessly attack the Nerevarine. I mean, they coexisted peacefully with the Imperials for some time.

A scenario just occurred to me. Maybe some of the Akaviri are treating the Nerevarine the way the Pilot (Anjin-san) was treated in James Clavell's novel "Shogun": as a cross between honored guest and prisoner. Without hurting him or her, they could be picking his or her brain for knowledge of the current state of Tamriel.

I suppose that the only race that would be instantly hostile to the Nerevarine would be the Snow Demons, but I dunno, the Tsaesci never seemed too friendly to me. I suppose that it all depends on where the Nerevarine would land.

Maybe Nerevarine allies itself with the Ka Po' Tun and Tang Mo to defeat the Tsaesci? After all, it is immortal, and has nothing to lose.

No, the Nerevarine is actually in the Scholars' Garden, debating the savagery of the ka po tun with the Monkey-and-One-Tiger Sage Council.

I personally think it would be awesome if the Nerevarine appeared in TESV as some sort of god in a palace or something, covered in Daedric armor so you can't tell his/her race or gender.

Also, perhaps he/she would never speak or something.

The problem is if they do put the Nerevarine in a future game they can't really give him/her a race, as the Nerevarine could be any race or gender.

I get the whole thing about dropping the bridge on the heroes of their old games. Thing is, Bethesda seems to be doing it with all the major non-player characters, too. I'll admit the majority of my lore knowledge comes from just playing the games, but it seems to me they're icing off all the major "non-player" players like Underking and Mannimarco. Who's left who doesn't have a shroud of obscurity on them?

Edit: a few grammar corrections

the Underking is Talos, along with Tiber and Zurin Arctus. Mannimarco though, IT HAS TO BE A FAKE!

Well, all that really means is the Underking is pretty much out of the picture, though, right? Same shroud of obscurity effect.

The mannimarco thing was very decisive, imo. Yes, I played Daggerfall and agree it didn't look anything like him. Appearance aside, there was still nothing to indicated it was anything other than the genuine article. So, he's gone.

So, basically, who's left of all the epic "non-player" story characters?

To me it seems like they nuked the fridge.
