Question about tweaking graphics in MP

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 12:36 am

actually especially enemies are prettymuch always visible, no matter the distance...
but yes, all the other tweaks make you see more stuff...
but that stuff is there...

and imho, in this case these tweaks are pretty much just a try on fixing things that should not be.

@Tom or Adam or whoever could say something official.
Is it okay if I >continue< to tweak stuff like lod an liewdistance ratio in MP or will this get me banned at some point?

Or maybe they could give us a list of settings which must be left with default values? I dont have time right now and dont know if I will have untill monday but what I wanted to say that there are people who used something like advanced graphics Options 1.7 - Mainly for simple changing the FOV params, but maybe this program does something more (or maybe people clicked/modified to much) and the server is recognizing our cfg's as a cheaters ?

Please Crytek - what we can modify and what we cant to play multiplayer without being kicked after 3-5 mins ?

bump. So that s the answer we get . No tweak at all? seriously? could you, crytek , at least give us some options in a menu with supermega settings? that work in MP?

Honestly I like the game and all , but the bugs at release , the patches who fix things very slooooowly , and the fact that everytime there is a risk of abusing a command you lock it entirely make me think that nobody at crytek know how to code properly .
You want to lock things up? fine! give us a real advanced option menu , with the possibility of making the game looks better.
OR , don't make options , but let the cvar work between certain values.

Well tweaking FoV is somewhat unfair, lets people see more than those who don't tweak it

Its not unfair, its just necessary to adress all the different kind of display resolutions for PC users. 4:3, 16:9, 16:10 not to mention to multidisplay setups that can be run.

I've used the "Crysis2AdvancedGraphicsOptions 1.7" tool and have not been kicked/banned. However, that was before the 1.4 patch also.

I see no reason why simple graphics tweaks like the ones in that tool should get anyone banned, that's just insane. You can't use the reasoning "it lets you see more than others" .. so, then do you ban everyone that has a good graphics card or compared to someone with an old crappy graphics card? No... Just using a directX11 capable graphics card will allow you to "see more" than say someone still using one that uses directX8 or 9.

Having better graphics is not a cheat/hack. If anyone gets banned for that, then whoever designed it that way to do so is a idiot. Graphics are always variable from different card types (e.g ATi vs nVidia) to older versus newer, low-end versus high-end, etc..

I'm using the Advanced Graphics Options utility v1.7 on patch 1.4 and so far it's working fine.
