A question about Vivec, CHIM, and the Tribunal.

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 9:42 pm

What was it that set Vivec apart from the other members of the tribunal upon striking the Heart? Why did he achieve CHIM at this point? Is this even the point where he did? Also, Ayem and Seht. Why the name change?

I mean, I know most of what we have to go on is the 36 lessons. If Vivec wrote his own history and that of the tribunal when he broke the dragon at red mountain, is are these even subjects that have answers outside of temple doctrine?

Edit- I also was wondering, why did the Chimer already worship Alma and Sotha in favor of their anticipations even before red mountain, or is that more of Vivec's tampering?

Almalexia was a closet Psychopath and Sotha Sil was an eccentric recluse.

So you are saying their respective personality disorders got in the way of enlightenment? I mean, Vivec was a murderer >.>

Vivec was a thief and stole the secret of http://imperial-library.info/content/tower, which allowed him to maintain a sense of self as he realized he was just part of the godhead's dream. That's my thought, anyway.

No one knows when he attained CHIM. It likely doesn't matter, as it operates on a level outside of Nirnian time.

Vivec->Vehk, Almalexia->Ayem, Sotha Sil->Seht, I think are just abbreviations when written in Daedric.

Vivec the Mer was a murderer. Not Vivec the God. I would assume their respective personality disorders certainly hindered them attaining enlightenment.

I'm just going to assume that regardless of whether or not Vivec achieved CHIM on striking the heart or not, Alma and Sotha were probably nothing particularly special beforehand, possibly warchiefs at best, and that Vivec wrapped them up in his own fabrication because they were there when Nerevar was killed and shared in the lie. Because I still don't get why they were venerated before hand, unless it was some decree of Veloth.

Don't think they did that. Is it mentioned in the sermons? Then it's just Vivec speaking in riddles.

No one knows when exactly he achieved CHIM, but my guess is that it wasn't when he stroke the heart. It probably took some time and a lot of meditation to achieve it. I still hope the Molag Bal story isn't true.

I always assumed those were just their original Dunmeri names, as opposed to the longer Cyrodiified ones.

Those are daedric letters, i think? like huleed said. Take Sotha Sil. There once was House Sotha, but I hear Seht was the last of that line, so it might have been an honorary title (edit: Being called House Sotha) than a noble family.

house sotha, as far as... like ... nobles go. Not the actual political-body Great House thing. ish.

Ayem, Seht, and Vehk are the names of the letters that begin their names. Their alphabet's version of "A," "Ess," and "Vee." That's really all.
