question on achieveing 100% chameleon

Post » Thu Dec 02, 2010 8:56 am

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forums and registered just to ask this one question. If I were to equip a piece/pieces of equipment with 25% chameleon and then cast cloak giving me 75% chameleon, could that possibly give me 100% chameleon? this would SO help with the arena.

I had 3 items each with a Sigil Stone of 30% Chameleon each, and casting some power that gave me 15% gave me 105%, so I assume it's the same in your case. In other words, chameleon effetcs ar additive.

Wanna be sure, just go to you Magic tab and check the last one that lists you the effects you are under and their degree :) (God, an actually useful post of mine, what happened?).

Hey, why don't you let us know how that went? If the fight was too tough, etc...?

Having 100% chameleon basically enables godmode on your character. When I first started playing Oblivion, I tried it once and it completely ruined the game for me. There's absolutely no challenge. You can run up and bash any enemy to death and they'll never detect you or respond. I guess some people think it's fun to have it, but I personally think it ruins the whole game. The fight will be ridiculously easy.

Certain enemies DO respond allright. They respond by running around in a panic after you hit them.
As far as my thief class character is concerned, Guards and the Watch are her enemies.

I know - i just made the comment coz I thought the OP had no idea what the 'great fight x Grey Prince' means... but then I remembered...
Spoiler
If the player completes the quest Origin of the Gray Prince and informs Agronak of his "bloodline", he will become nearly suicidal and simply stand still during the match, allowing the player to attack him with no retaliation.

It is fun, for about 5 minutes, then it's like, whats the point.
I've only used 100% chameleon once and that was to

Spoiler
run through the very last oblivion gate due to the time limit

it does actually. which is why I choose to equip a ring with 25% chameleon and then cast cloak. cloak lasts for but a few seconds so it doesn't ruin the whole game. and I still lost to the gray prince even with 100% chameleon. it helped, for awhile and then I just got beaten to death when the spell ended.

Two other ways, potions, with decent alchemy skills you can make four potions with 25% or better chameleon, they last for around 40 seconds, nice for closing oblivion gates stealing hard to get items and similar. Illusion 50 or higher gives you chameleon 100% in 6 seconds, time enough to kill anything if you have a decent weapon also long enough to take you trough a guarded gate, mix with invisibility 30 seconds and you can walk everywhere.

The only thing I use high chameleon for is to get past pyschic guards.

On some quests, if you don't have it, you're detected and arrested instantly when you enter a cell. You're essentially gambling on whether there's a guard in the interior when you enter. If there is, you're arrested, if not, you're OK. Full chameleon avoids the "retry until it works" annoyance. There's probably a level of Sneak ability that turns this phenomenon off by providing the equivalent in skill, but it's too hard to figure it out.

Angel is into camping but she prefers to just observe the wildlife instead of killing them. She uses six grand-soul-gem enchanted items to cloak herself; pants, blouse, shoes, hood, and two rings. Each item has 20% chameleon giving her a total of 120%. At 100% she is still detected at short range. Wolves and bears regularly wander peacefully through her camp.

There is no need for cloaking in a fight and she would never use it like that.
