Question for Betheda or Obsidian.....

Post » Sat Oct 02, 2010 10:37 am

I've defended your decisions for a long time, but I have to ask, how do you keep dropping the ball over and over again. I'm not gonna harp on past mistakes, but I do want to ask a single question. Considering the devotion that Fallout fans have for this franchise I understood why the developers were so tight lipped about the DLC, and I felt that the surprise would only serve to heighten the mystery of the content. Yet unfortunately I woke up this morning and saw how a list of achievements for HH was added to the patch download for PSN....So my question is this....What is the point of being so secretive about the DLC if your going to screw up right before the release and divulge specific plot points(by way of achievement names....yeah its not to hard to figure out)?

I could be incorrect but I believe every patch that has immediately preceded a DLC has included the achievements.

So you don't think that the DLC achievement list should be added with the DLC??? I mean the patch is for the main game and it apparently ignores the fact that you downloaded Dead Money.

You could always, y'know, *not* look at the achievement list if you're worried about spoilers for the upcoming DLC.

But I'm seeing Bethesda's interference here- not sure how it is with Obsidian, but Bethesda always keeps the players guessing if they're doing another DLC until the last one comes out. Here, we know that they WILL be doing at least 4 DLCs before new content is done for NV, but we don't know what they'll be about or when they'll be released. Back in FO3, we didn't know if they were done after The Pitt!

What are they supposed to do? Add the achievements 2 months after the DLC comes out?

I'm pretty sure the achievements need to be patched in and can't be added simply through the DLC.

afaik achievements are put on the networks indepedently of any release. I'm seeing achievements for Dead Money and I haven't downloaded that yet.

One thing we can surmise, what with PSN having achievements for Honest Hearts, and XBL having promo banners for it, I'd say all the resources for it have already been released to the networks (prob same day as they gave them the patch), now waiting for an official launch/date

Even if they could add the achievements with the DLC(which they can't), OP could still just look at the achievement list right after he buys the DLC, spoiling it for himself.

So does anyone feel like this is a baseless complaint? The reason I ask is because I'm not trying to whine, I was just honestly excited about being surprised.

They should probably have added them as mystery achievements... Plenty of games have them. Makes it all the more fulfilling when you discover one too.

The problem here is that people speculate too much, you haven't played the DLC or seen a trailer yet so therefore you do not know whats in it. And for all you know you could be completely mis-interpreting the titles of the achievements.

No one has any facts 'that this or that' is going to happen, only theories - so stop pretending like you do.

Usually the achievements are added the day before the release

My former gripe seems ridiculous now. I just want some news....The fallout community has been dealing with bugs since day one with this game so why don't they just release the dlc already?

I don't care if they released the achievement names, but they gave a description, and now we already know a bit more than we should
