You can sometimes get your game shipped to you the day before release.

When I went to the midnight release of Dragon Age 2 and Portal 2 I got there at about half past 10 and there weren't many people there. It seems like other people are going to get there around 9, some people at 6 o'clock. I might have to change my plans. I might ask one of my friends who works next door to the gamestop to keep an eye out for me and see when people start getting there, lol.

No midnight launches in my area so I always show up as the store opens theres usually a few other people there but rarely for games so its usually just me in the games section usually browsing until they start stocking the new releases since they never schedule the person stocking games until 5 minutes before the store opens, so no tents or long lines for me.

This is exactly how its gana go for me:

Approach gamestop,

Observe massive line,

Skip past it,

Walk in,

Have game that was bought by friend who works there handed to me

go home and play, while laughing at all the people still waiting.

Done it a handful of times already :disguise:

TBH though, i suspect the lines will be significantly cut than they were for Oblivion and be more like FONV / other games thanks to the steam downloads. All the 360/ps3 users are gana still have to deal with that mess. Controversially you could just go the next morning when all the rushers have already picked theirs up, and not play all night ->feel like crap next morning. Obviously not my intentions though.

Reading these types of threads makes me feel sorry for Americans.

In the UK we have a National Postal Service that swears to deliver all items to you up to 3 days from dispatch with 1st class postage - but the reality is they often only take 2 days to reach you, the 3rd is left in as a fail-safe. But what that means is every person in the UK who pre-orders the game online to be delivered by 11/11/11 will have about a good 80% chance it arrives the day before. Has never failed me from websites such as Shopto
and GAME,

Getting it through Steam this time around. I've never bought an ES game through Steam. But Fallout 3 and NV were both very easy to mod even with Steam's different folders, so that doesn't worry me too much.

Hopefully there will be a pre-download for Skyrim, so right at 12:01 AM on 11-11-11 I can start playing :P. This was the case for Deus Ex: HR.

I would get in touch with your local GameStop and see what they have in mind for that day/night. Often times, they'll have little events and such. What will inevitably happen, if they're wise that is, is they'll separate the people as per what platform they'll be playing skyrim on.

I like that idea. 360 line and a PS3 line and PC line.

The Gamestop I pre-ordered from doesn't do Midnight releases, and typically sets new releases in the Afternoon. MAY try earlier, but not really certain.

I feel like, if I've been waiting for 11/11/11, I'd rather get the game on the actual date than a day before. If that makes sense.

I'm definitely going to the midnight release. It's an atmosphere thing. Sets the mood for the first time I play it.

Camping out does happen for much waited for games, but usually only in larger areas.Smaller areas have mediocre sized line but thats it.When PS3 came out, someone got stabbed so the person that stabbed them could get theirs first.

Now thats enthusiasm. I like the chip on the guys shoulder. :mohawk:

I'll head over to Gamestop around 11:30 before the midnight release and see how long the line is. If it's too long a wait, I'll just wait until the morning (while I cry in anticipation). If I have to, I'll bring a large foam sword and start beating people out of line. :L

I don't understand these midnight releases. I've never been aware they actually do them in the UK. If they had a midnight release for every game the store would practically never close. Plus long gone are the days when a game would sell out if you didn't pre-order it.

The fact is I could walk down to the shop and get it on 11-11-11 if I wanted, but I will probably do the normal thing and order it online which guarantees me arrival on release day anyway. Usually cheaper and no hassle. Screw waiting up.
