A question for those who pre-ordered.

Post » Sat Sep 03, 2011 3:24 pm

I didn't see a topic like this, I apologize if there is one. So, if you're pre ordering, how early are you going to get to gamestop (or wherever you're buying it from). I've heard people talking about bringing tents and stuff like that. Is that actually a thing that people are doing? camping out before hand. Just curious as to what everyone's plans are.

Yep! I plan on being outside my gamestop at about 5pm, maybe 6pm if I am running late, with a chair for comfort, and some MREs. I will be picking up my CE at 12am.

Camping out does happen for much waited for games, but usually only in larger areas.Smaller areas have mediocre sized line but thats it.When PS3 came out, someone got stabbed so the person that stabbed them could get theirs first.

As soon as I get out of school, drive thirty minutes home, drive an hour from there to the nearest Gamestop. 2:45p+:30+1:00=4:15p.

yes, people do this- they'll probably also have a mid-night release as well. I don't know about Skyrim, but I remember waiting in line for Modern Warfare 2... I was there for atleast 2 hours. And I lived in a place that had atleast 20 or so gaming stores in the area.

I'll probably be there no more then an hour and a half before midnight. Knowing how midnight releases are at my local gamestop, I'll still probably be one of the first in line.

I went to the gamestop at like 10 when I got Dragon Age 2 but it seems like everyone here's going to get there a lot earlier. Maybe I should rethink my plan.

I usually go an hour-ish before. Not sure how other Gamestops do it, but the one here gives out tickets and lets you pay before midnight. The at maybe 11:45 they have us line up by ticket and you get your game, usually goes pretty quick if everyone pays earlier.

I would get in touch with your local GameStop and see what they have in mind for that day/night. Often times, they'll have little events and such. What will inevitably happen, if they're wise that is, is they'll separate the people as per what platform they'll be playing skyrim on.

The webstore I preordered mine from offered an import version that will arrive in the country a week later but cost quite a bit less so I went with that option.

I don't quite understand since they're all "imports" but it's cheaper so I went with it.

Did everyone go to the same store?

Never been to a midnight release for a video game, and I doubt I ever will. However, I shall be outside my local GAME at around 8:50am on 11.11.11

I am far too impatient to wait in long lines. I'll be content to get mine sometime during the day on the 11th, not the night before. I'm more impatient about waiting in long lines than I am about waiting for the game. :P

Same here. It's what I did for Deus Ex: Human Revolution too. I got the game 1 day later, but for half the normal retail price!

I understand that only certain gamestop locations are having midnight releases for Skyrim - you may want to call your local store to confirm.

In my case, I pre-ordered via Steam. Hopefully Steam users will be able to download a few days early and have the game magically unlock at 12:01am PST.

EDIT: Incidentally, Skyrim has exceeded 500,000 pre-orders for Xbox and PS3, significantly higher than the RAGE pre-orders, even though RAGE will be released much sooner.

No idea what the pre-orders for PC retail and PC digital download might be.

The shopping Plaza that my local Gamestop is in is cool with the Midnight Release Event, but they have signs posted about no tents. lol

I'm gonna go line up at about 9 or 10 pm CST ('cause I'm in the midwest...), but I know I won't have to worry about people camping out like 2 days beforehand.

;)

Gonna wake up on Nov 11, 2011, make a caramel cappuccino, boot the ole PC, and just wait for Steam to unlock the game to make it instantly playable; cause I know there's got to be a pre-load for this game on Steam.

I'm getting it in the mail, hopefully a day early. If not, I imagine it will turn up at about 10am.
