Were you using a modded save file you downloaded? With Xbox, I used to have problems with this, especially with the Dovahgolt modded save.
on a PC freezing at load screens or loading a saved game is due to memory allocation.................The S.T.E.P Project on nexus has a lot of information on how Skyrim allocates its memory & of the 2GB limit ...............you can install mods that fix the problems of memory allocation.........as for other platforms has no idea.so sorry this one cant help
if you are on a PC use a mod called Safety Load or its updated version (cant remember its name) .......this mod corrects how Skyrim memory is allocated......and switch to window mode for more stable game play
I have to ask, what mods can you download if you are on the Xbox?
As for your current situation, I'd dare guess you have a corrupted savefile. In that case, reverting to a previous save is about all one can do.
Then there is the possibility of suffering from savefile bloat and the save has simply become so large that the console hardware cannot support it.
My recall is slowly coming around. I remember having a small list of things to do as preventative measures for lag, freezing and crashes on the console.
I know there are more... Granted, this will not help your current issue. Alas, these practices will help ensure a reduction in future playthroughs.
I was wondering this too. I figured maybe he used the word 'mod' in place of 'dlc'? That, or he used a modded save, or is using a modded jtagged xbox.
DLCs are essentially official mods so that is a possibility.
Saves that have been manipulated by the use of console commands is a scary way to go. Pending what the PC user did.
When I played on xbox, I tried using a few of the modded saves out there. There were ALWAYS glitches a plenty. Strangely one of the reasons I switched to pc was just to do my own mods. lol
Perhaps you've got a corrupted file? I've had some files that gave me fits like this, but I just loaded an older save and begrudgingly redid my progress. (sorry I'm not much help)
I'm putting my money on you having a large savefile. Make sure you have seen my revised post from earlier as it can get lost in scrolling. Your future games should perform better.
What level are you, and how big is your save file?
Reload a previous working save, and play with this one from now on...
My game keeps freezing too. Not when I'm loading a save but after playing a while it will freeze during a loading screen or randomly while walking around. I only have one save and haven't done that much. I'm level 22, and haven't even started the main quest line yet.
Don't overwrite your save over and over again, as it could ruin your save file in the long run.
Also, why do you have only one save? Is there any particular reason why you do that?
I added these, as my recall comes in, to the suggested list posted earlier.
I only keep one save because I read that keeping several saves would cause it to freeze. I figured if I only kept one, then that couldn't be the issue. I don't over write the save, I delete it, then make a new save. I read that installing skyrim onto the hard drive helps, but I don't have the free space and also read from others it didn't help at all. It seems like all of the bethesda titles I've played have had this same issue. FO3 and FONV were bad for this too. They would freeze on loading screens a lot. Is this just a bethesda issue that can't be fixed?
I thought you created only one save, and saved then over that. lol
Yes, i thing keeping less saves in your HDD should help a bit.
As for the loading screens freezing problem, that could be game related, HDD related perhaps if your HDD is old and full of contents.
That what i know for sure - is, if you get a never ending loading screen, most probably your save is corrupt!
I have the xbox 360 slim. I've had it completely taken down and put back together and there's nothing wrong with the hardware. Bethesda games are the only ones that freeze this way. If it was freezing on all my other games, I would think the xbox itself would be the issue, but it has no issues with other games at all. Skyrim, FO3 and FONV had the same issues on my old xbox, and no other games did. So I think it's a Bethesda thing. I read the same engine was used for all three of those games. That could be the problem.
Maybe I missed the statement somewhere but I will say it anyway.
Try cleaning, (or even better), repairing your disk. I have x-box 360 with 250g hard drive and a fan mounted on top to help keep my 360 cool. When I started having the freeze problem I did all the same as you. It still froze on me. Then I cleaned the disk and repaired the scratches. Now when the light reads off the disk, its not being refracted away from the info it's trying to read. My freezing stopped.... But I still save often and delete old saves. (force of habit)......
