Post » Tue Jan 07, 2014 2:28 am

Wife is getting imac and my experience with mods is nil as i play on xbox. Few questions

If i get new top of line 2014 imac will it run skyrim with mods

Are there reviews for mods? Website

Does nexus post top 25 most used mods

If a mod starts to act funny will i lose the entire save file?

I suggest getting boot camp and dual boot into windows. I do not know if the game runs on Mac OS, since I do not have one.

The thing you want is a true video card on the Imac such as Nvidia, Ati and not Intel HD, Intel HD is fine if it also has either the Nvidia or Ati card with it.

I will check the current listing to see if any are good but likely you get more bang for your buck if you make your own gaming pc.

I would not call the the best Imac a gaming pc. It might play well with Skyrim but with the newer consoles the pc games will likely need more powerful specs since for sometime PC games were being slightly held back due to limits on consoles.

You have to run Bootcamp and load Windows to load the game. So, you already have that going against you. You also need to make sure the Imac has a 3D gaming video card in it.

So, it is possible, just have some hoops.

You also have to remember that your not adding content like adding MP3s to a playlist, you are recoding the game. Mods are not designed to work together, although most of them try not to interfere with each other. So, you have to be careful about the mix.

And, yes, using mods can hose your character in ways that you never thought possible. With the scripting in this game, most mods can not be removed from a save without problems, so you are stuck with the mod if you want to keep the character. Or, you plan ahead and fork your saves.

All that being said, modding can be fun and you can build a game to play the way you want. But you just can't throw the Top 25 mods at your game think it will all be hunky dory. You need to take some care and thought.

Also, you need to learn things like BOSS, Wrye Mash, TES5Edit, Creation Kit and some other things to help get the mods to play well with each other and the game.
