Ok, question on leveled gear...

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 9:49 am

So, does anyone know at what level the gear will be maxed out?

For example, I know, if you get XXXX Armor(just a place-holder) at level 12, it won't be as powerful as if you get it at 30, or maybe at 40, but my question is, what level does it stop improving?
In Oblivion, I believe level 45 was the level at which all the leveled gear(like the Daedric Artifacts) hit it's maximum potential. Just wondering if anyone knew what that level was in Skyrim.

Also, my research seems to point to the Blade of Woe as the best dagger in the game, anyone else find something better?

As far as I have seen items do not level with you, an iron dagger will do just as much damage at level 1 as it will at level 50, assuming the same perks. Not sure about the enchantments.

I'm not referring to regular gear, and I know none of it levels WITH you, but some items have stats that are modified by the level you are when you get them.

For example, the Nightingale Armor has better enchantments the higher the level you are when you get them. Since they don't level once you have them, I just want to make sure I get them at their best. :)

I dont believe there is many leveled gear in Skyrim

gear values seem to based on 3 things
1. the type of gear
2. your skill level (higher heavy armor skill = higher armor rating)
3. if the item has been improved via smithing

I haven't found a dagger better than the Blade of Woe, but Im sure with enchanting perks and the daedric armor smithing perk you could make a daedric dagger that is better.

edited any to many, typo on my part, and if you want to know the items that are leveled here is a link with all the info you need

Why? The base armor/weapon will be the base armor/weapon. The only thing that can change is the level of the enchantment. The highest I have seen is 25 points in game (from my travels through the games inventory, not just in the game). This is only on the armors and weapons, not jewelery. The starting levels are 10 points, and they go up to 25 points. Don't know yet if the game has a mechanism to increase an enchantment over 25 points on loot but I spawned the highest level Absorb Health Sword I could find and it was only 25 points. I have seen it higher on some jewelry, but I am only at mid levels right now.

So, the only thing you would be lacking in is at most 15 points of spread in an enchantment.

In other words, the way you are playing, you will hold off on every quest that has an item reward until you are level 40 or 50, then do all of them in fell swoop.

Nah, not holding off on EVERYTHING, just my sneaky [censored]. When you have to deal with surprise Dragons, you're already at a disadvantage as a thief-type, so I want to make sure I have the best help I can get.

The Heavy Armor bruiser with high Block is always gonna be ahead against the random Dragons, I just want to make sure I'm not completely out of the running. :)

I dont think 25 points is the max; i found a pair of steel 40% lightning resist boots for sale in a store the other day. Suffice to say, they will remain on my nord for quite some time.

Normal items and artifacts are static. Their enchantments and values are set. Some magic items (other than artifacts) are leveled items. These work like dungeons and their characteristics (damage, enchantment strength, value) vary depending on character level but are locked once they're discovered by the character. Leveled items are usually quest rewards.

In Oblivion there were a lot of items like this, including artifacts, and it could be a bummer to get one too early, because they would be underpowered late in the game. In Skyrim most of the artifacts aren't leveled.
