Question Re: Oblivion Walker

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 11:33 pm

Anyone know if for the Oblivion Walker trophy I need to collect all 15 artefacts on the same playthrough? I'm asking because I'm at 200+ hours playtime and only now do I realize I screwed up one of the artefacts, after finishing all the Daedric quests. I have one old save game at 60+ hours playtime, before I completed any of the Daedric quests.

Specifically, I'm wondering if I can load up my old save, complete the daedric quest I originally goofed up, then go back to my 200+ save game, so that all that time isn't wasted.

I'm asking because I noticed that I received the Standing stone trophy in my second playthrough, even though I hadn't visited them all, yet -- But if I combine the Standing stones I visted in both my 1st and 2nd playthroughs, then I did visit all of them, which is the only reason why I figure I received the trophy (since I never visted all 13 in a single playthrough).

Or am I just grasping at straws? Am I stuck having to go through all the Daedric quests, again, with what I now think of as an underpowered (relatively) character?

I am pretty sure once you an aquire an achievement, it stays. I recall getting the 100k gold achievement in a random moment... I reloaded, got to 100k gold again but no achievement again, because I was already given it. I think the achievements are game-wide and not specific to any character. You should be fine.

I would think that the active game file (the one currently being played) would be the game file triggering the event and it would have to have 15 artifacts found.

BTW there is a bug with the Standing Stones. I got that achievement after finding only a few of them.

ATM I have 14 artifacts with two more Daedric quests to go. Remember ... there is one Daedric quest where you get TWO artifacts.

The achievement is for visiting X standing stones, but you'll get it by visiting any standing stone(s) X times.

Ahhhhh ... so that's how the "bug" works and why we players get the achievement for it "early".

Not so with the Daedric artifacts I would imagine.

That won't work, unfortunately. That earlier save won't retroactively change later ones. It has to be all on one playthrough.

Re: the standing stones, my game stats say I've visited 63 of them.

All need to be from one character.
Also, there are 17 daedric items, the Skeleton Key does not count towards the achievement and Hircine has two (savior's hide and a ring)
But there is a slight cheat. You can get two for the price of one with the Hircine quest if you play it right. So technically you can get 15 of the 16 qualifying artifacts from 14 quests.

This.

And as far as you question, OP. Yes, you can load an earlier save, do the Quest differently (thus getting the Achievement) and then load up your larger save while still keeping the Achievement.

Once the Achievement id unlocked, it is unlocked regardless of which character(or how many characters) you are currently playing. The only thing is that you must get 15 Daedric Artifacts with one character. You can't have five characters who each get 3 Artifacts and have it unlock. One character has to go through and get all fifteen items.

Achievements stay regardless of how they're obtained. For the breaking out of prison one, I got arrested, broke out, got the achievement, then reloaded my save before then. So yes, it works that way.

And as the people said, the artifacts all need to be on one character.

Hopefully I'm answering the question correctly <.<

Nope, you have to go through all the trouble of making a new character and getting all the artifacts again. I spent an extra 30 hours with my second character (only would have spent 20 otherwise) trying to get all of the artifacts.

Thank you Boethiah.

I now have the Oblivion Walker Achievement. Got 15 artifacts on 14 quests.

Don't forget to equip each artifact and walk around the different Holds with it. I love the banter programmed into Skyrim on various things and one of them is what all the various NPCs say to you as you walk pass them with an artifact.

Now for Black Star or Azuras Star ....

Thanks for everyone's help. I went to an old save and sprinted through the quests (the Hircine 2-for-1 really saved me some time!) to get the Oblivion Walker trophy, then went back to my current save.

Part of what had goofed me up originally was that even though I'd I failed to get the Skull of Corruption, and only got 1 with Hircine, I thought I was still on track for the trophy all the way until I'd finished up all the daedric quests. It was only then I found out the skeleton key doesn't count towards the trophy... Ugh.

I should have visited these forums sooner!

According to the Wiki, the Rueful Axe also doesn't count toward the achievement. So you'll want to choose the Masque of Clavicus Vile when you do that quest.
