A Question Regarding Dragon Breaks?

Post » Wed Aug 01, 2012 8:24 am

Hi all! First time posting in the Lore section of the forums. Anyway I am confused about Dragon Breaks. I understand that it is an event that breaks linear time, and alters it. My question is; Could a Dragon Break result in one person being in two places at once? I know Alduin was moved forward in time using the power of the voice, and an elder scroll to make a localized Dragon Break, which seems to answer my question with a no. Theories on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Dragonrend did nothing to move Alduin through time - that was all the Elder Scroll.

What it did was create a time wound, a place where time is more... malleable. Alduin was shoved into this wound, and next appeared thousands of years later in time to save the last dragonborn.

Heh... funnily enough, it might be possible that the player character in Skyrim is the first dragonborn he ever saw, if he predates Alessia's covenant (and assuming Alessia was the first "dragon-born")

Thanks for correcting me on that, I think what I meant, got screwed up in the transition from brain to hands  Any way Alduin was just a poorly chosen example. In theory would it be possible for a Dragon Break to result in the same person, being in two different times at once?

During a Dragon Break you can imagine the case when all Parallel Universes appearing in a same 3-dimension world at once, that of course one person can exist in different location. But to this person himself, he can only sense his single existence, as all other "him-person" are from different timeline and he cannot sense them, just like you cannot sense that "you" in another Parallel Universe.

The Warp in the West comes to mind, when the parallel timelines all merged into one such that Numidium was being used by all involved factions. Although whether there was an individual Numidium for each faction or if there was only one is up for debate.

Thank you Nihilee, and blai5000. So let me follow up with another question (The Lore Junkies are either going to hate me or love me, I love asking questions) Since the Hero of Kvatch becomes Sheogorath, would it be possible for a Hero of Kvatch from a parallel universe to be sent into the "Cannon" universe via a Dragon Break, who has not yet or chosen not to help stop the Greymarch?

btw I apologize if my last response was confusing. Talk of Time travel, and entering Parallel Universes tends to be confusing by principle

Technically yes, but the Jills (Akatosh's time menders) try to repair such impossibilities when reconstructing a linear time flow.

Once you leave Mundus, things become much less certain. Since Akatosh (time) is a part of Mundus, it's unknown exactly how much sway the Daedric Princes themselves have over time. Time in an Oblivion realm doesn't have to flow the same as on Nirn.

Awesome thanks! Again sorry if I was being difficult, I ask a lot of questions, but all with good intention. This all has to do with a current RP I'm creating which is very in depth, that supports my theory that there can be a Hero of Kvatch who got sent into our present, while still maintaining that the Hero of Kvatch native to this universe is still Sheogorath
