Question regarding the conjuration familiar

Hey on my shaman/spirit mage character I'm using conjuration but only for the familiars and undead spells so far and i'm wondering if the Atromancy perk effects the wolf spirit familiar. Does the familiar count as an atronarch?

The familiar is utterly worthless, perks don't affect it and even at the start of the game it's incredibly weak.

I'd say "no" fire, frost and lightning atronochs are the only things effected.

Dremora Lords are affected by all but the one that makes them more powerful.

worthless!? nothing in skyrim is worthless this game has no flaws, best game ever!

Nah, it's fine up until about level 3, at which point you'll have got to Whiterun and can buy the Flame Atronach spell. It is very weak *after* the start of the game though: it's really a trainer summon.

I have a character that's level 31 and I play on Master. She only has 100 Magicka, so she can't cast Apprentice level spells w/o buffs. I use the familiar in pretty much every single battle. It's great for creating distractions and giving me that extra second or two I need to plan my next move. In fact, it can do a fair bit of damage to a foe that is otherwise distracted by biting it in the backside. :smile:

I can assure that with Conjuration of 82, Flame Antorachs are not merely "trainer summon." They're long-range fire damage; can svck up a lot of damage; are easily replaceable when needed; can target flying dragons and, they keep you nice and toasty in those cold caves and dungeons. Further, I like to cast them into new rooms to see if any enemies are in there.

I believe Ytheria was referring to the familiar as the "trainer summon," not flame atronachs.

I was a little surprised how squishy the familiar was. I understand it's not an atronach, but I think I casted it like 4 times and then never used it again. Flame atronachs available early enough to make it pretty useless. The Flaming Familiar is pretty win though, if not only for amusemant.
