question regarding the smaller factions

Post » Mon Aug 23, 2010 4:34 am

I can't wait to see Fallout 5.
If New Vegas is as in-depth and as amazing as I imagine, then in about 5 years the Fallout of that generation will be simply mind-boggling.

Gee, Fallout 4 isn't even anywhere close to beign released and yet you talk about a FO5 already? :P

I don't think that the smaller factions actually have any kind of plans for ruling or control the entire region. From what I know, most of them are either just trying to get by or have short term goals of controlling a small area. In that scene you can help them 'win'. But I don't they will be able to make a large difference in terms of the entire world or take out one of the major powers.

I think that the smaller factions could take over if they wait until the NCR and CL have exhausted their resources by fighting each other. You could pull a Clint Eastwood in "A Fistful of Dollars" play both sides off each other and when they are weak band the smaller factions together in order to take over the Mojave. That would be epic.

As I am always rooting for the underdog, I have decided I want to win a weak faction's allegiance, and to try to lift them to complete control of the New Vegas area. But is this actually possible? Are Mr. House, CL, and NCR the only ones that can take over? Can the powder gangers specifically take over? I ask you.

Dont Hold me to this lool

But from all the trailers and Dev videos, they saidd you dont have to be part of a faction, and can raise hell...now Im only going by logic here...if you join one of the Lower Factions....and then kill the rest...you pretty much got your result, no ? loool

I haven't looked much into the factions but are any of them good? They mostly look evil to me.

None are good in the sense that they are altruistic. Some are pretty evil. all will have shades of gray just like all governments.

Well, Caesar's Legion takes slaves and destroys town/places/factiosn that oppose them, the NCR are an expansionist faction and maybe corrupt to some extent and Mr House is probably driven by his own greed/self-interest. So, yeah...

And lo did the Baker's Guild expand their cooking industry throughout the wastes, providing food for all!
Nice little(end of game slide) cards like that at the end would be neat.

No matter how small their presence is, I intend on finding a way to help the Brotherhood rise back to power in the area. :disguise:

That sounds like the most appropriate course of action

I dont think BOS is that small

and in this picture right here http://www.falloutnow.de/forum/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=1418 you see a pack of them walking around their base with badass weaponary which makes me think that

A. If you help them they will expand and will be found in other parts of the mojave wasteland and if your rep with them is high, youll also see them appear in random encounters fighting off beasts and rival factions and may even assist you out in the middle of nowehere or during a shootout.

but if you..

B. Kill them off and wipe them all out at their base http://www.falloutnow.de/forum/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=1419 then they'll be gone forever.

then theres

C. murder some BOS members or betray them and then theyll hunt your ass down.

I think the same would apply to all minor factions.

I do hope you're right, I was just worried because in another thread someone claimed that the Brotherhood was restricted to a very small, out-of-the-way outpost, which would make me very sad. Regardless of how much overexposure they may have enjoyed in FO3, they're one of the iconic factions of the Falloutverse and to not have them appear in anything resembling a significant role would be a shame.

Thats the thing though man

theyre not going to be like reilys rangers wheres theres only 4 or 5 knights, im sure theres atleast 20 or so BOS in their base alone.

and how it'll probaly work is you come across them and they tell you to basically [censored] off and you can respond by helping them(which causes them to expand) or killing them off making them extinct like the minor factions in FO3 like RR.

minor factons can all die maybe but no matter how many NCR/CL you slay theyll never go away.

from what I understand:

NCR are too disorganised and chaotic, they need YOU to go in and give them direction if they are to do anything constructive. For the helpers.
Legion are an organised force, so the reason to take their side is to direct this organised force. For the fighters.
House is.. erm.. who knows? I suspect more like Mr Burke in action and direction. For the schemers.

As for the smaller factions, I suspect you use them to get what YOU want, rather than to aid them in any particular way. EG as your ticket into the Legion or whatever.

Pure speculation, but it seems like that to me (don't hit me if its true and that is a massive spoiler lol)

good theory

in regards to siding with house

I dont even get how siding with him is even an option when NCR military police control the strip from the outside with his police force which is madeup of robots.

i mean yeah sures theres the mafia and chairmen but theyre only present inside of the casinos and clubs not the strip itself which is what house controls under NCRs ruling.

i know it dosent make sense but house is just one person. Other then a group of robotrons, who the hell is rly backing him up? If NCR wanted they'd take the strip for themselves, but they only wish to enforce the law which i dont see what the big deal is unless house is a cold hearted selfish son of a [censored] who wants the strip for himself.

I was wondering if you could decide to just kill all three major faction leaders rather then choose one to side with.

If that is possible there may be an ending where one of the smaller gangs grows in power but its probably not an in game event but more the ending story line update during the slideshow.
