Question: should I change my pre-order?

Post » Tue Sep 27, 2011 8:00 am

Hello, after the CE was announced I immediately preordered skyrim for 360 as it was the only thing I had that would run skyrim.

Since then I have had a run of luck and now also own a ps3 and an awesome gaming pc (Asus G74sx)

I am heading back to gamestop soon to change my preorder (after the hype of the CE died down I realised that while it is awesome, I do not have enough room for that awesome statue and there are more responsible choices to place the extra 90 bucks I would save from the normal edition.)

My question to you is:

Do you think I should keep my preorder on 360, or move it to the ps3/pc

from what I have heard these are the advantages/disadvantages of each:

xbox 360 - gets dlc earliest ( i will definately get dlc) - also most familiar system

ps3 - better graphics than 360, not as good as pc - new to the system but I heard bethesdas ps3 games are buggier than usual

laptop - better graphics all around, amazing mods(I have experience with morrowind mods, which I love), disadvantage: I dont get to play skyrim on my 40in HDTV.

which do you think I should do?

and please, I know that this can very easily turn into a console war so be civilized in your discussions.

thanks for your help!

PC. Coming from a 360 player.

You obviously know the pleasures that come with the PC version. :P

PC and Xbox 360. You get the Xbox 360 for the vanilla version, then mod it on the PC. But if you're doing just one, go with PC. You'll get more bang for your buck with that.

If it's within your budget, go for PC, it's a long term investment when it comes to customization.

I'm tempted to say the same (although I don't know the pleasures of playing PC)

that sounds pretty cool. I think about that and know that graphics improving mods will be fast coming though.

also forgot to mention: I love pc games, If I do end up getting skyrim for a game console, I will get a pc copy later when GOTY comes out. I love to mod and I have already offered help to create a werewolf model if it turns out they are not in the game.

Defiantly should change it to PC in my opinion. The simple fact is that you're going to have more options with the game on the PC then you will on the consoles. Your basically getting a bigger and better game for the same price. Mods can change areas of the game you don't like, fix bugs, or just add in completely new content. Having the console to fix glitches or just play around with the game is also a very nice perk.

I'll be getting it on the PS3, but I wouldn't hesitate one second to get the PC version if my laptop was powerful enough for it.

I know, and I really want it for pc, but playing skyrim on my 40 inch HDTV is enticing me...

Just out of curiousity, why can't you hook your pc to the hdtv? I can't because I don't have the tv, but the last few video cards I've gotten are supposed to hook to the hdtv I don't have.

I technically can, but my tv only has 2 hdmi ports (one has 360 one has ps3) and I hate crawling behind it to swap them out.

I am a loyal 360 fan and i would urge you to get 360 so you can get dlc faster and all that other good stuff but i dont have any good reason to go against the PS3.. PC always has kick as* mods but i heard they are releasing skyrium on PC through some company that limits modding and access to skyrium if you dont have internet.. i am not full knowledgable on the topic but 360 is a must!!

Yea, through steam.

I already use steam pretty heavily (I love valve games) and it has always been pretty open to mods, especially to single player games. I hate that you have to be connected to the internet with steam, but I do have a constant internet connection.

I am sure bethesda worked out a way with steam to allow mods like normal. (I will be very angry at steam if they block Skyrims mod abilities)

From the way things are going, I am leaning toward PC.

But I have one last thing: is the wait for DLC worth it? what if the first DLC turns out to be something of Bloodmoon or Shivering Isles quality?

Anyways I have to call it a night. Thanks for your responses and I will read any further opinions in the morning.
