If you haven't known already, in between the years before The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, a lot of other [censored] has been happening in Tamriel. One of the things i want to question about is, what exactly happened to the Dunmer? I was reading an article on how the Ministry Of Truth became unstable and collapsed destorying vivec, along with most of Vvardenfell.

So does this mean the Dark Elves are becoming extinct during the Fourth Era and during The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim? I'd like to know because i'm personally a huge fan of the Dark Elves.

The Dunmer were all over Tamriel. They are nowhere near extinct. They're hating on the argonians, but not extinct.

They've already confirmed the same 10 playable races as Oblivion, so no worries. :thumbsup:

it just svcks to know that a larger number of the population for this race was wiped out and my favorite province is in an apocalypse! hahah

Yes, there are still plenty of Dunmer around, though in Skyrim their population is going to drop considerably in about six months.

No, there's quite a lot of Dunmer outside of Morrowind.

Also, only Vvanderfell got destroyed, the rest of Morrowind is still hospitable, except it's under Argonian rule now.

I loled at this. The ministry of truth was a small meteor rock statically hovering above or more exactly next to the temple in Vivec. It was about 30 meters above the ground and wasn`t that big. That it would destroy Vivec, along much of the island of Vvanderfel by falling onto the ground with that size and that height from the ground would be hilarious. Like throwing a paper plane against a wall and having the wall blow to smitherines. The way I see it that rock would simply crush the statue of Vivec with a spear and maybe the gondolier below it, maybe leave a dent on the floor. But to destroy an entire city and most of the island of Vvanderfel .

HAHAHA^ thats sooo true. the ministry of truth only had like 3 rooms anyway. the small corridor hallways, the prison chamber and a little office. didn't think a meteor that small could destroy a whole island..

Lie Rock regained it's original momentum and hit with the force of a meteor hurtling down at near-terminal velocity. When Vivec froze it, he left it's original intent intact.

Baar Dau, the actual name of that rock, was in fact hurled at (or convinced to hurl itself, depending upon how you look at it) Tamriel by Sheogorath, for reasons that should be obvious. Vivec, who was at his most uber back then, stopped time, literally, for Baar Dau. With Vivec gone, eventually time would resume for the rock, at which point it didn't so much fall as it did slam into the High Fane (or the water, doesn't matter either way) with the exact same about of force behind it that it always had.

Basically imagine that in the movie Armageddon, instead of blowing up that asteroid with a nuke, they stopped the clock just before impact. When the clock resumes, life on the Earth is obliterated. That's why there's a big crater where the city of Vivec once was (and probably Ebonheart), and Red Mountain erupted/exploded. You know the Inner Sea? The water between Vvardenfell and the mainland? Back in the days of the Dwemer, it didn't exist. The last time Red Mountain erupted, it turned that chunk of land into an island, and then water from the Sea of Ghosts filled the empty space. The combination of Baar Dau's impact and Red Mountain's eruption turned Morrowind into a big lava-soaked mess.

This is I think a great set up for a Tes 6: Black Marsh that would include the part of Morrowind that we haven't seen as well.
