question to the ps3 gamers.

Post » Mon Aug 26, 2013 6:37 pm

Is Skyrim playeble on ps3 , even after playing the dlc?

I have skyrim and played it for many hours , as for now its playeble but lag and freezing issues are growing!

I d'ont feel like playing skyrim anymore because we all know what happened with the fallout series on ps3 ( unplayeble after collecting stuff , infinite freezes and unplayeble lag ... broken game )

So my question is...

Will Skyrim end up the same as fallout on ps3 are not ?

The PS3 version has its problems sure, but is has been very stable for me. I know how to avoid 90% of all bugs.

Take care of Skyrim. Leave all auto saves off, save before you enter a loading screen, every 2-10 minutes while traveling, before you enter a new cell, before you recieve a quest.

When you kill an enemy, loot his entire body. Do this on all bodies and when you're close to getting overencumbered, store it all into one body. Do this everywhere. Outdoors and indoors. If you do this, I can guarantee you Skyrim will work flawlessly.

Doing all that so far had helped my Skyrim run smoothly.

I was once a PS3 player, and I played Skyrim with all the DLCs installed. It sure was laggy, espescially when I reached level 80, but it was playable. You only have to be careful with fast traveling, turn your auto saves off, and do pretty much anything else what Shadow Titan said.

Follow the steps I gave. It might just help you. Starting a new character and following that advice would be best.

All of the above steps did help quite a bit for me back on the PS3. I have also nothed that holding onto alot of keys at one time can add to the lag more than you would think. You want a better solution though? Move to PC or 360 for Skyrim and you wont have to try so damn hard to have a smooth experiecne.

I switched over to PC now but other than a couple of bugs and horrid textures, my ps3 version is fine. sad that my $500 dollar laptop can play Skyrim with texture mods better than the stock ps3 though. ps3 feels like it's lower than 30 fps most of the time.

Well, my game is stable for now. I'd say after the Dragonborn DLC, my game is less buggy. Anyways, I always have auto-saves on, no matter what. I also don't loot everything, that must be a chore!

I just play the game normally, and it works at acceptable levels. Lags more heavily around Riften, sometimes near Windhealm, but for the most part is works fine. The only rule I always keep is to never overwrite saves from older chars into newer ones. I create new saves for new chars and delete the ones I don't want anymore.

I don't know if this actually works but instead of overwriting old saves I make a new save every time and delete all but the newest one after every play session. Should supposedly keep save bloat down.

I'm currently playing on PS3 at level 45 and have a 12 mb save file. I never use auto save, and don't horde loads of crap though I do have a nice armor collection and some bugs in jars and whatnot. Ash piles are finally cleaning up right so that isn't a problem anymore. I will admit that I very rarely do the clean up dropped weapons things because come on, I'm not a damn maid.

The area to the East of Windhelm where the farms are is a slightly laggy area no mater what. I got bits of lag there on PS3 and i get less but still a small bit in that area on PC as well.

My current character is level 41 or 42. All holds discovered and about to enter Riften for the first time.

60ish hours in with a 9MB savefile.

I don't deal with much lagging if any at all, or glitches for that matter.

My only issue is the freezing. It's bound to happen sometimes, but the game doesn't become unplayable because of it.

Now that's impressive.

Just checked mine to be exact:
Level 43
70 hours in
12 MB

I must be forgetting something because my last character has over 100 hours and is only at MB. Perhaps it has something to do with being a mage.

lol my last PS3 save file was about 520 hours at 19MB all three DLCs. The only thing that remedy the lag to an extent is removing Dawnguard. Serana and the wake of ash piles she leaves behind her :swear:

It is, but sometimes you have to break out of it to make sure Skyrim runs smoothly.

Of course, but unless you don't have the funds to buy a PC, you just have to put up with it.

After taking these steps in a new game, didn't got a single freeze. There are still some strange bugs happening every once in a while, like the objects in tables falling on the floor when I enter a house and the npcs glitching in the walls or disappearing, but it's playable.

I am also avoiding the main quest. Too many risks of bugs in the dragons appearences. Gotta keep my eyes open, damn dragons could sweep down at any moment and glitch the game...

I'm playing on ps3, all 3 DLCs and it is fine. Just watch that auto save doesn't turn itself on again - It did this when I installed DB and that made it nearly hung when ever I went to Solstheim. Turned it off nd it was ok.
I dont tidy up all the dropped weapons and junk (too boring) - some I tidy up. However I also dont drop stuff around the place either
