Question on Turrets

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 2:30 am

That might be true, but it might not. Someone might HATE being a medic (sounds ridiculous, but I've seen it), operative (some people hate sneaking around, a good example is myself), and being an engineer, so the only one you would like to play is Soldier

Well everyone is entitled to play what they want to play.

Right, that's what I was saying. Someone said that people will end up playing all classes, but I said some people won't want to

I'm one of those people who prefer to specialize in 1 main class and then have a "backup"/secondary class, but then again, I usually play RPG's, so....

This game seems really fun and I am willing to play (or try at least) all of the playstyles (though I will probably stink at Operative and maybe Engineer) for the variety of unlocks in the abilities/perks/etc. Don't want to be forced to switch the classes during gameplay, though. (Like I said, I'm used to playing RPG's in which you stay the same class and specialize in that class and is part of your character.)

But, yeah. I hope there is support for this game after it is released or it will not last long against other games that have DLC's, additional maps/weapons/higher level caps/more unlockables/whatever, etc. That is the unfortunate side of games (especially multiplayer or FPS games). :(

I've only ever played Medic, really... even in MAG where every player and his grandma carries a Med Kit I'd still go out of my way to max out the tree, pick a guy up miles away, top up his HP, clear his back before rezzing... I've never really paid any attention to any other classes in any other games.

But I'm willing to try all in Brink, and though I'll play Medic by default, I imagine I'll frequently be swapping around as the match requires.

Exactly my point, people tend to gravitate towards one class that they prefer playing. I myself prefer The Engineer

I prefer bots to tell you the truth. Just something about having a little friend fight along side you that appeals to me.

My second preferred class is sniper, just because Engineers tend to have problems against ranged enemies... I naturally gravitated towards a class that can deal with them.

That's true, but I think that all the classes will be equally balanced, so no one should have an advantage at a different range then another class

In BRINK, "sniper" is a playstyle while "Engineer" is a class, though.

Yeah I know, but as an Engineer I would prefer weapons that were better at defending, such as a machine gun or something... and defense weapons naturally are close to mid range.

Im sure they will have their own destinctive looks, although overall they will be the same damage and accuracy wise. Maybe the Resistance one will look busted up or made of wastematerials and that sort and obviously, the Security one will be more upclass and properly built.

Why does everyone assume that leveling up to twenty won't take a long time? Have they mentioned how long it takes to level or shown the equation they use?

Due to the amount of XP tossed around, it seems like it will be very easy to do.

the only game that actually might pull me off of brink will be bf3, but it won't last long cause i am such a 100% completionist [censored], though the only thing to stop me is HD crash (lost majority of game saves)

It has been mentioned that going through both campaigns would roughly get you to level 15.

So not exactly what I would call easy.

Unless the last few missions are uber-hard then most people will be 15 by the end of the week. Then all that will be left is challenge mode and then customization. And I'm thinking that challenge mode will be just as hard, if not harder, then MW2's Spec Ops mode on veteran difficulty.

And since this thread has gotten so immensely far off topic, let me try and ram it back on by asking a question: Has there been any word on flamethrower turrets? :flamethrower:

Multiple playthroughs and still not maxed? That idea ain't exactly new, but its definitely welcomed in many games, I don't exactly love going through campaigns multiple times but with Brink changing every level (I mean ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING TO CHANGE IT!). I'm looking at you Fable 3...

unless playing as resistance and security have to be separate characters so you have to start back at level 1 when doing the different storylines.

They've already explained all this stuff on the website guys, go check it out. Watch all the videos, then read the features and development blogs.

If you must continue discussing the campaign then maybe you should start a new thread, because this thread should be all about turrets.

Are you sure it's going to be insanely difficult off the bat? SD were aiming for all-round accessibility, after all. Seems strange to break the formula there.

I think he's referring to the "Hard" mode. It wouldn't make sense if everything was that hard.

After all, the devs have said that Hard mode is just for showing off, it's not going to be something like "50% more health"

It's low because there is 58 abilities and you can put only 20 in one of your 16 characters. Instead of leveling one character for ages, they make it so you can level many different characters.

Thanks For saying this because it makes me feel so much better knowing that you get a ton of characters. getting a ton of characters for the immense amount of clothing makes me excited....a little to excited....oops!....gotta go.
