Question on Turrets

Post » Thu Apr 07, 2011 8:47 pm

So do turrets for the resistance and security look the same aesthetically or do they have different skins like the weapons?

I personally think the turret design we have seen so far look more resistance...ish due to their ruggedness and color scheme... and less security.

Well, it could certainly be a possibility. Different turret skins would make them easier to spot as well. Also, don't forget that there are different kinds of turret "levels". They will probably have a different skin anyways.

Well I hope they have different designs and I want to see the other turrets as well :D. Maybe they will look even more badass.

I'm planning to go Engineer as my first class :).

Good luck, and remember to buff your teammates' guns!
That is if you want us medics to revive you after you're incapacitated.

We Engineers won't need to be revived if our turrets and landmines work correctly ;)

You'll only have enough pips to drop 3-4 landmines if you want to deploy your turret, I'm thinking.

Sounds reasonable, but 4 mines is enough to kill one person, and if I have a soldier with me, I could keep getting more. Plus I have a gun (I would hope), so not every mine will go off

They don't just level. You need to buy higher tier turrets with ability points, which you get by leveling up.

And there are only 3 levels.

They put an emphasis on not really caring about levels, as most of the good things are unlocked at low levels

It evens the playing field as well. You won't be able to complain that you got killed "because he has a higher level and better unlocks"

It's low because there is 58 abilities and you can put only 20 in one of your 16 characters. Instead of leveling one character for ages, they make it so you can level many different characters.

That's also true. I think it's more about making the game even for everyone, even beginners

While still having the fun of being able to design a character as you play him, even though the level max is easily reached, as in Guild Wars. I could reach level 20 in a single day (and have, on a few occasions). All it does is level the playing field (no pun intended).

Right. My only concern is that people will tire of not having a reward system, as everything seems easily unlocked. Look at MAG, I played today and over 2000 people were still playing, most because it has a constant progressive system in the form of 70 level plus the Veteran System. I hope Brink has some sort of system in place to do this as well, as MAG has been out over a year now and the forums are active as ever, where as other games like Black Ops tire out within 3 months

BRINK has an ability limitation.
You can't just level your character up to 20 and get everything you want as is.

You will have to work on multiple characters to get most out of the game. Technically you have 20 x 16 levels, which are similar to prestiging 15 times in Call of Duty, because you will go through the (some of the) same content again (weapons and clothing stay unlocked).
And then there is the challenge-mode which is said to be stunningly difficult on the hardest stage; people will be kept busy if they want to reach 100%.

That's true. But if you're set on playing one class and having one costume, and you just want to play that class, it'll be easy to top off that character with everything you have, where as MAG has about 20/30 perks per skill tree

But eventually you will get bored of playing the same thing over and over again, and you might want to test out other classes.

That might be true, but it might not. Someone might HATE being a medic (sounds ridiculous, but I've seen it), operative (some people hate sneaking around, a good example is myself), and being an engineer, so the only one you would like to play is Soldier
