Question....Weapon Speeds...

Post » Sun Apr 07, 2013 3:05 am

I have a character on the go, using 2-handed weapons, heavy armor, block, smithing. And I'm going into some archery for some ranged.

But I can't decide on what type of weapon I should use. I was going to stick with swords since I like that they are faster than axes and maces. But then I found this:

Comparison of Two-handed Weapons

Weapon type, Attacks per second, Relative damage

Greatsword, 0.7, +0
Battle Axe, 0.7, +1
Warhammer, 0.6, +3

Apparently Swords and Axes have the same speed?

I'm not sure if this is a mistake, or what. But if that's the case, I'll just go with axes then.

Yes. Greatsword and Battleaxes have the same speed. Axes do more damage, but I personally use Greatsword because they look better.

For my 2H characters, I always go with Greatswords. I absolutely hate the way the handles of axes and hammers stick in the air, like a flagpole.

The damage is not an issue when smithed well and enchanted.

I just use whatever I think looks the best, whether it be a greatsword, battleaxe, or warhammer.

I think another reason I chose Greatswords over Battleaxe's is because they have better finishers.

Not a fan of the head-butt finisher, really. I wished the Dragon finisher for the Greatsword was a head jumping/ riding/ stab thing.

i always thought battleaxes are slower than greatswords, because axes are slower than swords.
