2 questions about arena.

1st question: What are those guys in the starting dungeon that appear conveniently when you have hardly any health left and either kill you by shooting a fireball or by their weapon ?

2nd question: Is there a method to get the stats to where you need em at the start of the game ? No matter how long i just re-roll the stats i never get the stats i want up the most at the start of the game. I know it is a luck thing but my luck svcks.

The only thing I recall that is the most dangerous in the starting dungeon are human; don't recall anything like what ya describe. However, did ya check the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Arena:Monsters to see the list of monster that ya might met that fit ya description?

That's what i am talking about. The human's that shoot fire at you or just walk up and PWN you with their weapon. It is so damn annoying. What level are they ? Level 10000000000 ? The humans are the ones in the castles that attack you if you open the door they are behind.

Depending on how they're dressed, they could be mages, nightblades, warriors, a few other classes. Learn to tell which ones use magic based on their garb. Your best bet with regard to the magic-users is to close quickly so they're forced to melee, which they're lousy at. With the non-m.u.'s, you just have to slug better (and heal yourself as you go along, which they never ever do no matter what class they are).

You are just unlucky if they happen to come when you're down in HP; Arena doesn't game you that way. The fix for that in any case is to not let low HP happen, which is actually pretty easy; just sleep on a raised surface. If you are on a raised surface and cannot sleep due to monster proximity, go back to the beginning of the dungeon (which you have presumably cleared out) and sleep on a raised surface there.

BTW, they're not high-level.

It's not just your personal karma at work here. :) Your class has an effect on your stats. If you're not getting the stats you want, you may want to try a different class.

Personally, I find that the Oghma Infinium cures all stat deficiencies, so I don't worry too much about them (except to do the best I can with Endurance, which if low has the permanent effect of lower HP).
