Questions about Beast companions... : V

I know that you can have Humanoid companions throughout Skyrim but I was wondering If
we are able to get pets like dogs or similar creatures to be out loyal companions, a la Fallout 3.

Does Amybody know?

apparently youll be able to get wolves(which are similar to dogs) but from what i heard, they dont last forever as your companion. i could be wrong.
