Im fine with Danse becoming Elder if it offers a meaningful alternative to Maxim's kill everything that's not Brotherhood approach. If it still means you have to side with the BOS and wipe out Institute and Railroad then what good is it? In that case, I'd rather Danse not become elder and simply drop his BOS support lines, so you can side with someone else and still have him as companion/romance. (Although I suppose technically you still get his romance buff even if you kill the BOS, you just lose all the "if something happened to you, I don't know what I'd do" gooey stuff that he constantly says otherwise). I like bringing him around and I like his romance talking but I do NOT want to support the Brotherhood so I've been delaying finishing the game until someone fixes this.

When he got out of his pa in my game he was in his underwear, which I thought was a tad odd.

Danse hates ghouls, even non-ferals. Go invite the Vault-Tec rep to Sanctuary while Danse is with you, see how he reacts.

The confrontation with Maxson during Blind Betrayal felt like a perfect opportunity for that... I cared for Danse, so really wanted to punch Maxson in the face after that (even though I didn't think highly of him from the beginning).

And he hates it if you kill innocent ghouls or lie to them like Trish, he also likes for you to help the ghoul farm and admire their resourcefulness, he also likes it if you help Billy the ghoul, even knowing how disadvantage it is to do so. You ahve one example, I have a bunch of examples showing otherwise.
