Questions about DLC.

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 7:58 am

I have some very basic questions about downloadable content in general. I have finished my first complete playthrough of New Vegas (without Dead Money) and I'm starting on Fallout 3.

1. Can DLC content be added in the middle of a saved game? (I'm guessing not). I just exited the Vault in Fallout 3 (Escape!) and I'm wondering about adding all the DLC's that are available before I go too much further.
2. Can DLC content be removed?
3. Is there times that MS Points can be found for less money (for buying DLC)? Currently it appears to be $20 for 1,600 points. Or, can DLC be bought cheaper elsewhere (I see Prima sells DLC's but I'm guessing this is for PC only...how would you add these to an XBOX???)

Any help in understanding XBOX 360 and DLC would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks gang.

DLC loads onto any save you have, well, outside of Vault 101 of course.

1. Yes, it can be added at any time. Once it's loaded, you'll get a pop-up message either telling you about a transmission of some kind or, with Broken Steel, that the level cap has been raised
2. You CAN delete it later if you want, and redownload it again,, but don't expect to keep any of the new weapons or perks or anything from whatever DLC you removed
3. The only time you can really get MS points for cheaper are when a place like Gamestop or (If not in US, put your country's equivalent store here) sell the point cards at a discount or something. Also, considering that Prima is a strategy guide company, those were probably guides that you saw, not the DLC

Thanks guys. I might have misread what I saw at the Prima site? I bought the Fallout 3 "Game of the Year" printed guide which includes all DLC's. Paying $9.99 just for an updated "eGuide" for only 2 of the DLC's seems...extreme? I just assumed they were including the actual new content? Anywho, as I said, none of that applies to XBOX 360, I'm sure.

OK...all that being straightened out...$49.99 for the 5 DLC addons for Fallout 3?? That seems very overpriced? Each of the 5 requires 800 MS points...for a total of 4,000. 4,000 MS points is $49.99. $50 to add new content to a game that cost that, originally? Am I just being stupid or does this seem out of line? Is there $50 worth of new stuff added? Who has these DLC's and can comment on their value? I'm not trying to be an ahole here...I'm just new to this entire Xbox 360 and Xbox Live thing. If you tell me that the 5 DLC's are worth $50...then so be it. But, please, tell me some of the reasons why?

800 Microsoft points is 10$, 5 DLC's means 50$

The reason for it being that price is because it adds several hours of gameplay and some new features.

And all that is worth the $50? I don't know...I'm asking you...is it worth it? Again...not trying to be an ahole...just asking...is it, in your opinion...worthwhile?

I look at it like this:
Going to the pictures cost around 100 kronors here in sweden, the same amount of money it costs for a 800 MSP DLC.
Now a film at the pictures gonna give me at most 3 hours of entertainment while a DLC can give me up to 5 hours of entertainment each playthrough.
I payed the same amount of money but get far more entertainment value from a DLC.

You're looking at it the wrong way. If you're buying all 5 though Xbox Live, then yes, it's overpriced, and you're paying more than you have to. You can simply buy all 5 DLCs for $30 plus shipping by getting the http://www.amazon.com/Fallout-3-Game-Year-Xbox-360/dp/B001REZLY8/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1300874198&sr=1-3, saving about ~$20. Alternatively you can get the http://www.amazon.com/Fallout-Add-Anchor-Pit-Xbox-360/dp/B001REZLWU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1300874042&sr=8-2 and http://www.amazon.com/Fallout-Game-Add-Pack-Xbox-360/dp/B001REZLXE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1300874125&sr=8-2 DLCs on discs of their own for less than $20 each, though that saves you less money considering you're only getting 4 out of the 5. But with that method you can choose which you want to buy. But really, getting the GOTY edition is the way to go, as you'll be saving a lot.
