My server runs Linux (web and mail), so I already have some familiarity with it, but purely CLI as it's headless.
Well this http://www.pcgamer.com/existing-skyrim-mods-will-be-almost-fully-compatible-with-the-special-edition/?utm_content=buffer03c2d&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=buffer_pcgamer quoting a Pete Hines tweet seems to confirm what I have been saying for the past week -- the new engine is not going to break mods. SKSE will need to be recompiled for 64 bit and the SKSE team has said http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1568922-wipz-skyrim-script-extender-skse/page-4that they will do that once the new engine is out, but it may be some work, so don't expect it right away. Be patient folks.
Hopefully there won't be any further worry and speculation about the new engine breaking mods and such.
Of course you will have to pay full price and start from scratch. Two different generations of game systems, and it's been quite a good number of years since Skyrim originally came out. So there's been more than enough breathing room to justify buying the game again. Your money will go towards a better quality experience.
Has anyone else here even played Halo, and bought Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, or the Master Chief Collection? Same deal as what's going on with Skyrim.
The million dollar question is: Will it finally fix the lip sync and audio delays?
Well that is fixed at least on pc.Nev er had audio delays.
Really? When was it fixed? Last time i played in august 2015(according to steam) it was still there.
I can never thank you enough for this. This has been bugging me ever since it started happening, nearly driving me insane and abandoning the game. Now it's over.

edit: doh!
Oh man, you and me both. I'm 49 and my in laws are always on my back about being a gamer. Never mind the fact that I don't smoke, drink, do drugs, go bar hopping, cheat on the wife, I have a job, and I always come home. None of that matters. All the matters is that I have a gaming rig and and an Xbox1. Oh the horror!
I Have a big question about This new Skyrim:
Will It INDEED be a separate game for Steam Users? Wll I be able to Keep my old and Modded Skyrim Legendary Edition in my Steam Library ? I really dont want to lose it ! If the remaster be a separate version , OK, but I dont want a replacement. Thanks in advance for those that can answers my question...
Where has that been said? Hasn't it said that it'll be an upgrade?
This.
I had an Amiga. Well, three. An A500, another 500 when I killed the first one and then a custom A2000 that served well for many years. The first machine I owned was a ZX81, such a geek I had a 32K RAM pack. Not even the 16K some had. I've owned a few consoles over the years, but 90+% of my time has been with 'computers'. I've seen and used almost everything. I loved the Amiga's, but Commodore dropped the ball. Apple was to do the same, but they came back in a big way some years later. Commodore Amiga did not.
Linux? Unix before it? Yeah, I worked with it. I do not play with it. It is too little too late for gamers. Game support improving? Sorry, but for every game that becomes supported for it, other platforms (not just Windows!) get lots. Gaming in Linux, in anything like it's current form, is a sideshow. LIbreOffice? OpenOffice? "Pretty compatible" is about right. Sorry, but I (and many professionals) need fully compatible with the latest version. I miss Amigas. Yeah, I'm that sad. Even more than I miss Sinclair Spectrums and Commodore 64s etc. But PCs with Windows is the devil I know now and have become proficient with.
In the future, maybe the 'spiritual' successor to Linux or whatever will break the near monopoly of "Games for Windows" within the PC gamer market. I will be envious of the superior choices I hope people will have in that time. I very much doubt it will happen in my lifetime.
Hello,
Regarding the release of the PS4 Neo - the info we've got so far says that every game released from October onwards will have to support both classic PS4 and Neo.
Am I right in assuming that it will be the case for Skyrim, then ? And that the graphics upgrade would look even better on the latest console ?
I have a bad feeling it will use the same modding system as FO4 with gamesas.net which might make it not as attractive for me.
Which is an unfortunate path if many modders decide to take that route, as it is plainly clear that Bethesda's plan for this release was to bring mods officially to console for the title. If most of the modders just release their updated mods somewhere else, it kind of defeats the reason why the PC players can get it for free while console users have to pay.
I think this Special Edition allows me to push off building a PC in the fall. I think I'll sock more money away for a better setup and await VI.
Some players still play on older hardware and use 32 bit Windows XP, which can't handle 64 bit applications. If the Enhanced Edition was an upgrade, all of those players would effectively have had their game taken away from them.
Without to offend anyone, i thing it's time that those people should make the BIG jump to an more advanced and modern OS.
Modern games has been shifting to 64-bit for a few years now!
All new video games taking advantage of 64-bit processing and the increased memory that comes with it.
So, just make the jump people!
I really doubt you will see any graphical advantages from shifting to the Neo.
Graphics hasn't anything in common with better hardware. The graphics are "fixed" into the games code.
For getting more advanced graphics the game must be re-encoded, and no one will do that on an finished game ready to be sold on the market.
It's the same as running the game on two computers with different performance.
You can crank every game detail to the max. The result will be the same EXCEPT: The faster computer will have better frame-rates.
That's the big deal with the Neo. Keeping steady frame-rates as much as possible.
So with an patch, Fallout 4 could easily run at 30fps locked (this time around), or at even better frame-rates.
---------
The Neo is more designed for getting native 4K video into your screen, up-scaling games to 4K (for an enhanced graphical experience), and it;s of course VR ready out of the Box.
Also according to Sony:
Looking at games, Sony will allow developers to [add Neo features to older games through updates] -> we should wait and see what that means, while games released after October 2016 won’t be allowed to patch in new Neo features.
Also, not only will there be no PS4.5-exclusive games, but developers aren’t allowed to add exclusive content to either model.
However, developers are allowed to enhanced certain features, with an example being that a two-player split-screen mode on PS4 could support four-player split-screen on PS4.5.
With this move towards a high-end PS4, it’s not to bifurcate the market. We’re not creating haves and have-nots. There’s only going to be one game on sale, and it will play on both [consoles].
You’ll have the same experience, but one will be delivered [at a higher resolution, with an enhanced graphical experience] -> that goes for the 4K upscale feature, if you own a 4K TV of course,
but everything else is going to be exactly as you’d expect.
----------
So, what i thing could be possible with Skyrim for example on that new Neo machine.
I don't thing that the game will offer better Trees, or double the amount of NPCs, more detailed characters and son on...
But it could run easily on 4K (always up-scaled) and even then archiving 30fps steady.
Also it could run at a higher locked Frame-rate on TVs that are not 4K capable, archiving a much better experience, especially after using mods!
