Heh. Only too true. I'm really happy Steam has no idea how many hours I've actually played.
Heh. Only too true. I'm really happy Steam has no idea how many hours I've actually played.
I'm happy that I have no idea how many hours I've played!
Well.... I spend about 10 hours a day in game. And have done so (this time) since early October 2015. And before that, there were several marathon sessions since release. So.... yeah. But I'm retired, and playing games is my hobby. I don't really care how many hours of what remains of my life are spent somewhere I love, doing what I love.
I'm fairly certain I've unlocked achievements and gotten the notifications while playing in offline mode with mods. That may or may not have any significance for the way things work with the upcoming console mods though.
Heh. Rick, believe me, I fully agree with most of your points. Some of my family (my despised brother and his wife, husband's children) think husband should "rein me in". He knows quite well he should never go there.
Goddess.... I remember being 52. I thought - I'd never be old. Well, I'm still not "old". But I'll be 70 shortly. And by DAMN, people who diss me for having fun in a game should just shut the hell up.
Have any of you, seen the new predicted requirements for Skyrim SE on Game Debate?
They are pretty tough!
Here is the link: http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=23957&game=The%20Elder%20Scrolls%20V:%20Skyrim%20-%20Special%20Edition
Jeez. That's a totally crap setup to do checking. Yeah, I got it - but - seriously.... In any case, my current rig will run SE on Ultra. But man, that site's a total PITA. And I'm not sure I trust anything they say anyway, considering the garbage they put in my face....
according to that site... my Intel will play on "med/high" and if I get the Nvidia running "Ultra", which is about right and why I picked this rig in the 1st place.
I play in off-line mode... cause, well I know on 360, the last numbers I had was around 7,500 hr's and that was 2 or 3 yrs ago.. What I do though is on the 18th I check my data usage and download any "large" mod's I want... if I have the data. Up-date Steam and generally try and make sure I am using most of the 20 GB I am paying for before midnight when I get my next month's Data. I usually have a list, as I do this month, some large "updates" that require the original to be deleted ( which I don't actually do til after I am sure the new one works.. I move it to a "storage file").
I have the same family/ friend problem... most think I spend to much time playing, writing, reading or on the forum... the only person who counts ( my husband ) doesn't gripe, much. I work 8 hr's a day.. what I do with my "free time" is my business.
Well... if you're pinched for bw, and have win 10.... do NOT allow windows to download redstone. It's 4+ gigs. I'm about ready to "regress" to win7. These idiots don't get that not every person on the planet has unlimited bw.
I have the "code" for a free download of window's 10...and have not done so yet... still using windows 8...8.1 or something like that. It work's, I'm happy.
Eh, if you want it free you need to do it now This latest "update" removes the free option. Truth to say.... I wish I hadn't ever gone to win 10. Yes there are things I REALLY like about it.... but man, the downsides.....
With win 10 you ARE tethered to the cloud. I'm SO not into that. Cloud is - not secure. SO not secure. Serious. I'm ready to go back to 7. And once 7 no longer gets security updates.... well... I guess I'll be off to linux, as little as I want to mess with something that's - gimped - compared to windows. Man I hate this. I started with windows at some beta number long before 3.0 (which was, truth to say, buggier than any anthill). I was like... WHOA - this is how computers are SUPPOSED to work.....
*SIGH*
Oh...well I had not planned on downloading any time soon.. if at some point in the future I have to, I'll pay. Like I said, 8 works.. I'm happy.
Eh. I REALLY dislike 8.... I never bothered with it, same as I never bothered with ME.
I'm still on 7 for my game box. I'm not interested in anybody's cloud, especially if that anybody is Microsoft. I play this thing behind a firewall, and I control what goes onto it, and what it connects to.
My main PC is a Linux laptop. Unless you have some really unusual needs, Linux is not gimped. I use Ubuntu Studio (for my music), and Linux has far lower latency than Windows. The only downsides with Linux are Game support (getting better) and limited support for some hardware (also much better than in years past.)
I can't use my "normal" programs on linux. Most games I play don't work on linux (eh, yeah, there's wine.... but.... there's issues there). I have clients who use ms office. Doesn't work on linux. Besides the fact that I'm SO done with command line. Serious. Yeah, there are GUIs. NONE of them work like windows does. Windows.... opened my world to how things SHOULD be. But now - ms changed the rules. And I really don't want to go back to.... gimped "wannabe" windows. I honestly don't know what I'll do.
I - honestly don't know.
I haven't tried Skyrim on Wine. LibreOffice is pretty compatible with MS Office, as far as sharing documents.
I'm not as fond of Windows as you, I guess. My first Windows was 3.1, but I had been using the Amiga (a far better GUI) for 6 years before that. There are dozens of different GUIs for linux. You might want to try some out.
If your computer supports booting from a usb stick, you can download and try linux without having to install it. Worth a try, maybe.
That is the same as Fallout 4 which might be about right. I do not think it is official yet. I think they just looked at Fallout 4 specs and just used those.
Serious.... I've used windows since it was WAY beta. The problem is.... it just worked for me from the beginning. It was how I always though a computer should work....
I've tried numerous linux versions. I've good friends (from my wow days) who keep me supplied with linux distros. So far (I'm probably on flavor 30 or so....) none of them feel right. I keep hoping though....
Yes, maybe. It seems the specs will be higher as the old Skyrim release.
I'm curious about the official ones!
I'm in the same zone as you. Retired and loving it and nobody tells me how to spend my time. I also do the "childish" activity of running a pen and paper RPG twice a week. An addiction I've passed on to my kids
So, Bethesda annouced VR for Fallout 4. They also announced Skyrim Special Edition, which is in all likelyhood a port of Skyrim to the Fallout 4 engine.
I don't understand why they didn't announce or even remotely mention the possibility of Skyrim VR. To me Skyrim would be the perfect playground to test VR in.
Would anybody have more information on this ?
Here some articles about that:

I'm surprised they dont release it on 11/11/16 to mark a proper 5th anniversary
