Questions about Tamriel's elves

Post » Fri Aug 26, 2011 1:26 am

Do elves in Tamriel have the classic fantasy element that they are long-lived (usually around hundreds of years of life) or are they short-lived like humans?

Do elves have to sleep for 8 hours, or do they simply enter a 4 hour trance while laying in bed (the latter being similar to d&d)?

I've had these questions from the moment I started playing the Elder Scrolls for the first time.

I don't think anything is mentioned so I'm guessing we can assume they are the same as humans. The fact that you make a Elven character sleep and act the same as a human or beast race makes me think they are all pretty much equal.

Elves can live into the hundreds, some longer, only due to necromancy and other alterations (like Fyre and the Dwarve you meet in Morrowind who's been around since the War of the First Council).

Elves do live longer than humans.
For example, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Divayth_Fyr is about 4000 years old.

It's likely his extreme age has been augmented by magic, but Dunmer and Altmer are known live longer than humans.

For the love of the Chaos gods! This is the 4th age related questions in the span of 2 days! I should really just save some of my reposts on a document of something.
Are we talking about your normal bosmer, noble bosmer, magical bosmer, or combinations thereof?

Ah, what the hell, my stab attempt is
Peasant/wild: 120ish years
noble: 300
magical: 700

I see them as not living as long as the dunmer, who are around the range of 150ish-200ish (peasant), 400ish-500ish (noble), 800ish-1000ish (mage). Dyviath Fyr is an odd exception, but he was a chimer before becoming a dunmer. [censored], the guy is nearly as old as recorded history (he's at least 4000 years old, older than the Tribunal).

Expect the altmer to live significantly longer than bosmer and dunmer, due to their practice of eugenics and attempting to be as godlike as possible. I'd say, 400-500 for peasant altmer, 800-1000 for noble altmer, and 1500-2000 for magealmter (save for the Psijjics) of Summerset Ilse.

Also, the elves in TES sleep just like everyone else. Also, when it comes to TES, best to just ignore all other IPs, as it often leads people into completely conclusions, or confusion.
