Questions about the laser sight.

I'm having some trouble understanding exactly what advantages the laser sight provides. I've heard some say that it improves accuracy while firing from the hip, though I'm not sure if that's a reduction in recoil or what. Does it simply have an effect similar to Point Fire Enhance, albeit a less significant one? Last time I tried using it, I felt like it also improved my aim somewhat when aiming down the sights, but that may have just been a fluke.

Also, although cloaking while using the laser sight does show it as "off" on my screen, I've spotted cloaked enemies many times because it appeared that their laser sights were activated. I find myself wondering whether the laser sight does indeed actually deactivate during cloak or if it just appears that way to the user. Now, yes, in Crysis 1, cloaking did not automatically deactivate the laser, but in this game we don't have the option of turning it off ourselves, so I'm curious as to whether there's some sort of bug involved or if it simply appears to be off while cloaked for the player's sake. I'm almost absolutely certain that I've spotted cloaked enemies because of their laser sights, though maybe I'm just crazy.

All that aside, the biggest question for me is still just what exactly the laser sight accomplishes. Anybody able to shed some light on this for me?

There are no advantage in using the laser sight IMO.

However, the other team definitely benefits from a laser pointer that can be traced back to its master who is just walking down the hallway.

Cloaked enemies lasers only appear visible after aiming down the sights I believe...

The laser increases weapon precision from firing from the hip. This is following crytek's rule of "laser sights are cool so we must include them in all our games and make them give advantages even though lasers don't actually do that" - as seen in crysis 1 when you could basically hip fire from across the map to get a kill.

Yes it does make you more visable to enemies and I do think that the laser shows up a bit when you are cloaked, but it does give slightly more accurate shooting from the hip and the biggest advantage (that every one seems to overlook) is that it gives a more percise reticle for where your bullets are going when firing from the hip. Some times I find it easier to strafe someone with the laser locked on to their body.

Plus it just looks cool

Thanks

The best thing about the laser sight is that if you get 100 kills with it equipped you can net about 10000xp. 5000xp for 100 kills, 2500xp for 50 etc etc
