Questions about two weapon skills

Post » Sun Feb 23, 2014 6:30 am

So ive been playing with the skill calculator quite a bit trying to find my ideal setup for pre launch. I think ive landed on Breton Templar, since I plan on healing and this would give me the most diverse toolbox (and let me heal almost endlessly since templar healing skills use mana and the resto staff skills use stamina? True?). Anyway, on to my question. From what ive found in the current version of the skill calculator, ive seen two very interesting things.

http://www.esohead.com/calculator/skills#zozS5oN7zrDG8L7JqkLu6cdoQr6MdoQC6MdoQF6MdoQJ6MdoQK8j7xLU06rUM6LUR8n7JLWF6rWQ6bWU6qWZ6rW26qW36zfwgO6MfwgU6Mfwg26Mfwe08x7GLsfd6Lsfw6Lsfi8t7prsgW6rsg16MwYle8v7HLanQ6ranS6LanU6ranW6ranX6Mhx0n6Mhx0y6Mhx0l6Mhx0B8O7mrdeB8P7ardYw6zLyjz8zc7pcgePB6zgeXm6cgeXA6cgeYc

In the dual wield skill tree, the "Whirling Blades upgrade from Whirlwind. It seems to me like the skill calculator has its numbers all based on a starting level toon and doesnt adjust for level or power scaling. This skill as its shown would restore twice as much stamina as it costs, but if you have several enemies near, this could restore a stupid amount of stamina.

Secondly, in the resto staff skill line, the passive ability "controlled fury", is this a mistake? It says it reduces dual wield costs by 20%, but its in the resto tree. Typically, the resto passive should reduce resto skills, amirite?

Last, since I didnt get a chance to play with resto last beta (but I will next), is it true that resto skills use stamina instead of mana? Do we know if it scales off spell power or weapon power if it uses stamina?

If the calculator is accurate, I see a huge advantage going dual wield/resto staff for healers.

Still in theoretical stages .. but instead of skill calculator screen .. go to the Character tab .. then pick skill Duel Wielding - http://www.esohead.com/skills/38891-whirling-blades. This will let you get an idea of scaling base off Skill Rank, Character level, Attribute level, Weapon damage.

Rank 4, Character Level 14 (level obtained), 1000 Stamina (guess low end :D ), 160 weapon damage (reference from crafting section)

I've played around, I doubt max is going to be accuate, but you get an understanding what to expect.

Nice tip, thanks! It doesnt show any changes to how much stamina it regenerates, perhaps that is just a flat number.

and uses stamina for its base attacks(normal/powerattack)

Keep in mind that some of the numbers are off, here and there, on the esohead calculator. That being said.. it is the one that I use too, but just take what you see there with a slight bit of salt.

As i understand it (not my current line of interest) initial is this breakdown :

99 AoE Dmg ( scales w/ your max stamina pool)

100 Stamina (20 @ 2 sec tick for 10 sec) Base Amount

+65% Stamina for each target past first.

2 targets: 20+13(65%) per 2 sec tic or 165 Stamina in 10 secs. any more targets they might do some funny math which to our eyes doesn't look like +65 per target.

So the +65 is based of how many targets.

Just thought of it .. I would assume based off my calcs here, every additional target gives you that about (13 = 65%)

So 3 targets is 20 + 13 + 13 @ 2 sec tick for 10 secs = 230

Which still is good, 2 targets you've recovered more stam that you used!

Thats the way I understood it too. If the resto staff abilities do in fact use stamina, rather than mana, this could be a huge benefit to the sustainability and output of heals.

Can anyone who leveled resto staff last beta confirm if the skill tree abilities use stamina or mana?

Also, anyone remember if the resto passive ability I was talking about at the beginning of the thread is correct, or an error? (-20% to the cost of dual wield abilities, but from the resto tree, not dual wield)

It looks like its an error. The passive listed through the calculator under resto staff is the exact same name as the one in the dual wield tree.

Still looking for anyone with first hand knowledge on whether or not resto skills use stamina or mana! There had to be SOMEONE who played a healer last beta weekend.
