Recently, I had the thought to create a dremora PC for my next playthrough of Skyrim, but then I realized the absurdity of that concept and it produced some interesting questions.
For starters, is it even conceivable that a daedra might be blessed with a dragon's soul? I would assume the answer to be a resounding NO because...
- I doubt Akatosh would favor or bless a daedroth
- Are dragons not a form of aedra?
- The daedra are not born since they are the spirits which did not participate in convention. Although, as I was reading the TIL post on the daedric princes and the lesser daedra it was not clear if lesser daedra were these spirits or if the princes created them (the existence of masterless daedra seems to point otherwise).
Of course, this led me to some new questions.
- Is being reborn in the waters of oblivion to be taken literally? We know that it is a sort of terrible dreaming or sleeping from Battlespire, but is there further documentation on the process? Do they eventually *poof* back into their respective realms, literally wash ashore, cast out by a turbulent cosmic sea, or...
- ...are they reborn in the same way that mortals are born? (at least how mortal men are born, I have no idea how the altmer get around).
Barring an actual daedra becoming or ever having been dragonborn, could a child of a mortal and a daedra be dragonborn? We know that Vivec had some monstrous children with Bal, though I do not know if VIvec counted as a mortal at that point, but it all points to the idea that Daedra generally have the ability to produce offspring. Would such a child...
- Be immortal? A demi-god of sorts?
- Be a daedroth, or a mortal?
- Look humanoid at all or appear as a monster?
- Does it all depend on the mother traits?
Finally, a really stupid question: are the dark seducers we see in Shivering Isles the same as the daedra seducers we see in Battlespire?
These are all just silly musing I had based on my limited knowledge of the lore and none of it is really important in regards to RPing, but I hope the questions will spark an interesting discussion (and not that this question has been asked a million times, if it has I apologize in advance). Anyways, thanks for reading!
