Questions for TES smart people

Post » Thu Jul 01, 2010 4:34 am

So I have just read another post detailing an interview with Todd.

I would like to hear peoples speculations about some topics.

1. How are sword fighting? Can you choose to swing your sword to the left or right?

Todd said “Yes, you choose the direction with the control stick. It is also possible to perform different combo attacks, jump back and stuff “

My question: If you are using dual swords, do you think you can attack with one sword and block with the other?

E.g. swing with RIGHT handed blade, whilst blocking with the LEFT handed.

2. On a similar topic to above, if you use two weapons say a short-sword in your left hand and a long sword in your right will you be levelling a skill tree for two separate weapons or one skill tree for DUAL-WEILDING?

My worry: I like using two weapons for melee fights but I also use a bow, does this mean I will have 3 separate skill trees just for combat?

3. Can you cripple enemy's limbs?

Todd said “How should I answer this? Yes, there is a kind of system, but not like in Fallout 3”

My question: Is it fairly safe to assume you can hack enemies limbs off? And If so how many limbs can you take before they die?

I look forward to your replies.

1. Of course. You can block with a 2h sword too.

2. No. There's going to be different skills. Not a dual-wield skill, not an axe skill, but a 1h and 2h weapon skill. There will be perks in each one of those skills. So, dual wielding will be under the 1h weapon skill. You will level up the 1h weapon skill if you're wielding two 1h swords. You will probably be leveling two skill trees (1h weapons and marskman (or whatever they turned it into)).

3. Not really sure.

You can equip anything in any hand.

There is a 1 handed skill and a 2 handed skill.

Not sure about crippling limbs. They are toying with some level of dismemberment.

1. Still not sure, seems you have a button for each hand, so obviously you block with one if you have a shield, and this is a spare button for two handed, so you have one attack, one block. Doesn't leave a block button for weapons and spells in both hands, so weapon parrying looks to be out for one handers.

2. As far as we know, it's just one handed skill, only the perks you take will alter the effects of different weapons.

3. Judging by his answer, I would say, and this is a total guess, that any decapitations etc. will be finishing moves, you can't just lop an arm off in normal combat.

And 2 handed.

He was referring to using two weapons. You gotta be careful what you say around here, the slightest provocation, and you and I have the shame of having started another 'can I dual wield claymores?' thread.

Yep, I actually can hardly imagine how that will work on K&M controls...

No, its like the directed power attacks in Oblivion.

To OP: Blocking is timed and is done by pressing both attack buttons simultaneously so no attacking while blocking.
