2 questions from the game

I had 2 queries

Q1: if I sell the magazines I have collected (maybe even the bobbleheaqds), do I loose the powers attained ? I think I read here somewhere a 'NO', but just confirming again.

Q2: as of now , all junk that I collect, I return ro red-rocket(R.R) (my home base) and store it in the workshop there. these are incredibly long load-times on the xbox & PS4. (Imean for every junk collected in one go till the weight limits reached , go back to R.R-->offload-->resume where I was). Is there a way, that I can store the junk anywhere (containers made for that use, in the wasteland...and there a many of these) and when I am crafting I am using the cummulative junk that I have stored in Places A, B , C ....etc etc. without having to travel to A, B , C and collect the stash before I sit down to crafting?

I think ''Local Leader'' only linkes between settlements but not 'any' container all over the commonwealth.

anyone ?

Thx.

local leader only links nearby settlements, from what i've read where you issue supply lines.

Correct - IF you have Local Leader and IF you assign a settler to become a Provisioner you can link two settlements. With enough settlements (and provisioners) you can create a 'web' that lets you access ~building materials~ (aka junk) from any settlement's workbench. Note that you can ~not~ access items like weapons and armor and so on, from any place other than the original container you used.

As for the magazines, I am 99.99% sure that once you read it and get the perk, you can do whatever you like with the magazine. I can't imagine selling them, though - they make great decorations and can't be created later if you decide you want to show off your achievements.

If you store your gear in the general workshop where all your junk is stored, you still can't access weapons and armor from other workshops?

The only things shared across the supply lines are things that are components in a recipe to craft something and you can only access them as part of building something. By that, I mean that if you have a pile of fertilizer in the Sanctuary workshop and a pile of plastic in the Red Rocket workshop you can make Jet in either one (assuming they are connected, of course). But you cannot open the Sanctuary workshop and "pick up" plastic. Weapons, armor, ammo (other than flamer fuel which is a crafting component), mods, etc are not shared at all.

Q1 magazines add perks as permanent abilities, so no, once you have acquired them you can't lose them.

As a side note, either FO4Edit isn't displaying the records properly or there are a few magazines that actually lack the perk effect :ermm:

While I can confirm that the perks persist whether you have the magazines or not, I must recommend that you don't sell them. At some point in late game you'll probably decide to try getting them all which becomes impossible if you sold the early ones. Money is not scarce in this game; stuff is. Don't sell unique stuff for a little bit of fast cash or you'll regret it later.

Yes, Local Leader only affects your settlements that are connected to each other with a supply line that you must create yourself in build mode by assigning a settler. To the best of my knowledge only components and armor / weapon mods are accessible in settlements that are linked with supply lines. I am not sure about junk because I breakdown all junk to their components.

As stated by someone else above, you do not have direct access to all the components. They are only available to you for building and modding purposes. For example, Sanctuary and Tenpines are linked via a supply line. You have 45 oil in Sanctuary and 30 oil in Tenpines. Lets say you are currently at Tenpines and are setting up turrets; all 75 oil will be available for you to build turrets. However, if you want to transfer the oil into you own inventory (to transfer somewhere else), only 30 oil will be available to you.

Be careful about storing in any container because they can respawn over time. Respawn time is typically 72 hours (3 days) or 480 hours (20 days) if it is marked on the map as "Cleared". A few days ago someone complained that all the stuff he stored at Publick Occurrences (Piper's home) vanished.

Safe containers are:

#1. All containers in a settlement that you have cleared and can access the workshop.

#2. Crafting stations in towns settlements that you cannot claim as your own settlement to build things. Lexington is an example, I store weapons and armor in the weapon crafting station (next to the power armor dock) whenever I am overloaded. I left some basic pipe pistols in it since level 20 (as a test) and they are still there to this very day when I am level 65.

Sorry, just to be clear... in Workshop mode, click on a Settler and you should see an option like "E" for command, and I think it is "Q" for Supply Chain, or something like that. If you hit "Q" then you get a pop up of your settlements and you pick which one you want to link to. I would recommend keeping the links close by, because Provisioners CAN get attacked and killed, so if you send one from Cabot House to Sanctuary, that guy has a LONG haul to make. :)

They don't get killed, just downed like companions. However if they are down it breaks the line.

I like to use ghouls for provisioners, they are immune to radiation and ferals don't attack them. Dress them in asbestos combat armor, add your weapon of choice, and top it off with some ballistic weave

What platform are you on?

On the PS4, go in to build-mode, highlight the settler, use R1 and select the settlement you want them to provision to. It will ask you to confirm.

I assume it's the same method on the other platforms, I just don't know what buttons or keys to use.

Provisioners can be killed, but the player character has to be close by (same cell?). I've seen it happen :(

To clarify, a provisioner will "take a knee" or "take a bum" in F4's case, this means local hostiles will ignore them for the time being, but does not protect them from area effect or stray fire. The provisioner I saw die took a bum whilst I was helping defend them from some raiders, then out of nowhere a Super Mutant Suicider decided to join the fray. Needless to say bits of provisioner everywhere :(

Edit: clarification

All this is true, except, you can store weapon and armor mods in the workshop, and then use them when modding a weapon or armor piece at another linked (connected by supply line) settlement that also has a weapons and/or armor bench. For example: you have a 10mm pistol the you upgrade with 4 different mods. You now have in your inventory 4 mods that you could sell or reuse. Maybe those mods were pretty good and you wanted to save them and use them on another 10mm pistol later for your companion. Those mods can be stored in the workshop. Then you travel to say, Sunshine Hills Farm, found a new 10mm pistol and want to use those mods. Go to your weapons bench (assuming you have one there), and those mods you placed in the workshop will be available for use. As with other items, you cannot actually see them in the workshop, nor can you retrieve them unless you went back to Sanctuary Hills (or wherever you originally placed them). They are only available to mod with, and that's the only time you will see them.

I would say around 10 to 20 seconds minimum on each load. 15 -20 seconds on the average. these times are killing /irritating and I tend to loose the continuity & flow as such. I know its hardware dependent , so I was thinking if there's any perk that facilitates to skip these load times from place A to Place B. but now I know...

Wow, that is long. And I thought my load times were flow breaking, I get 3-5 secs on my SSD.

Quick question. If you have say 4 different settlements linked to Red Rocket. Would all 5 settlements have access to all the resources of all 5?

Yes. All settlements linked by supply lines share the same workshop pool of building supplies.
