Questions - new to the beta

Post » Wed Mar 12, 2014 11:05 am

I played a bit during the previous beta weekend, but not enough to figure out what I'm going to like playing the most. I'm hoping a few questions will get me started moving in the right direction.

The only healing skills I saw while playing were on the Templar, but I've read about people rolling Sorcerers to heal. How does that work? Is it all healing from the staff and they CC or DPS via mage skills? What is that playstyle like?

What is Templar healing like (assuming the mana problem I'm reading about gets fixed)? Standard party member select and ability click, or something more interesting like proximity healing or targeted area healing?

The polls I've seen suggest dual weiding isn't very popular. Is this just a side effect of being able to wield two types of weapons (dual I would see as a main, but not a secondary, where a bow would be common in either - ie picked more often)?

How is agro management for tanks? Do they rely on DPS to wait for threat building and refraining from over-dpsing? Is it all about cool downs? Is CC important in dungeon crawls or is it all about AE?

I'm obviously still trying to figure out what will be the most fun to play. I've played every role in other MMOs at some point, but what I hope will be great about ESO is that we might be able to build characters that don't fit the old molds. Anyone running a non-traditional character build that's working for them and want to share the details?

On the healing portion... Sorcs primarily use the restoration staff skills for healing. With their awesome magicka management that make really good zerg healers. I think for more small scale battles you will see templars shine more.

Word is sorcs make the best healer. When using the restoration staff it gives you a skill tree you can invest points in that is now much batter then the Templars healing skill tree (Templars are the only class to have a dedicated heal skill tree) but any class can use the restoration staff so with the sorcs passive skills they are the best class currently when wielding a restoration staff = best healer in game for pve end game or PvP.

There are a few other skill lines that provide healing effects, mostly notably the Blood Altar power from the Undaunted skill line, but those are more suitable as supplemental effects; The Restoration skill line remains central to healing even if you're using things from elsewhere.

Agro management is diffrent from your todays standard mmo. There are 2 taunt abilties to be had. One is in the one handed and shield tree, the other was in undaunt or however its called.

There is no aoe taunt and you can only taunt so many times before your stamina runs out. So the team realy has to work together and be sort of hybrid.

Each dps has to do more then just dps, you wil want to have some cc/survivability skills aswell and you still have to watch what you are doing.Unless you got the best tank in the world but that just makes things boring.

And sinds both taunts are not class based everyone could be a tank.
