Quick ? about map scale

Post » Sat Sep 11, 2010 2:41 pm

Okay...I found the map I wanted to use for Elven Maps...but now the icons are off to the side of where they should be...quite a ways off. How exactly do I get them to move back?

Did you use obmm or bain to install it? Did you read the readme? Also a link to the file on nexus, or else the name of the mod would help.

And did you include this (from the description on that download page) as well?:

Required mod:
*As all of these mods include Stirk, which is located beyond the standard map boundaries, it therefore Requires an extra .esp (not included) to adjust the map and icon placements.
Install Merged Maps
(The MergedMaps.esp files is all that is required, and must be loaded last (at least after the bashed patch) to work correctly.)

I would guess not because:
1. Failing to include the MergedMaps.esp file is what invariably causes precisely the problem you have, and
2. On reading the description would in all probability have also found the the forum page I have set up for the mod as well. ;)

Everything is okay...except my map icons are way off...do I really need mergedmaps.esp? If so, where do I get it from?

Are there no maps of Elsweyr, Stirk and Hammerfell in vanilla style? There's already a vanilla style hammerfell and stirk map (that's added to merged maps), someone should make an Elsweyr one and add it, I much prefer vanilla maps to those colourful ones.

The icons being way off is because the map is of a different scale than the original mod, so the original placement of icons is offset.
So yes you really do need MergedMaps.esp. Fixing the "icons are way off" problem is precisely what the file is for. That is why it is stressed in the description of my compilations that need it.
Where can you get it?
1. The link has been provided above.
2. the link is also in the description page of those compilations of mine, where you got the map from in the first place.

Aha! Methinks that you installed not just the MergedMaps.esp file, but the entire mod. So now you have one of the "Merged Maps" maps instead of mine!
No worries (just so long as you have the file MergedMaps.esp in your load order) install the compilation map again, and it will overwrite the map, and all should be as it should. ;)

Still did not work right...I got the elven map background back on, but the icons are too far to the west again. Am I supposed to use only one map texture...for example put just one of the three texture folders in?

Use Vargr's entire mod, but ONLY USE THE ESP from merged maps, not the entire mod.

Use all of mine - actually the three different folders are set for different game setting of texture size and screen resolution; with all three installed (in other words a full install) the game will select the correct one automatically depending on our settings.

* Out of interest: "menus" is large sized, "menus50" is 50% sized, and "menus80" is 80% sized, of the exact same map.

Assuming your map is one with Stirk in it: Then make sure that you have MergedMaps.esp active at the very end of your load order - AFTER the Bashed Patch, otherwise it simply will not work.
