Quick binding spells to keyboard

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 12:13 am

I am playing on PC (on max settings).

I find the controls awkward. When fighting dragons, I need to switch between ranged weapon and shield/melee. Sometimes dragon might fly around and not land, and I spend lot of time switching between melee and ranged/magic.
Fight is pretty much like this:
1. Dragon flies around, I equip bow.
2. Dragon lands. I equip melee weapon.(10 seconds of fighting, 5 seconds in menu)
3. Dragon flies around. I equip bow (10 seconds of shooting, 5 seconds in menu)
4. I take damage from dragon breath. I use healing potion (5 seconds in menu again)
Repeat steps 1-4 about 4 times.

I spend 30% of time changing weapons and finding the correct potion / spell. Quick menu is not that quick.

Why am I not able to bind items to numbers or keys? Or am I able to do it ...

Ouh, by the way ... How do I pick up items and carry them. Been playing 40 hours, and dont know how to move object without actually putting them into inventory ... Jeez.

Hold down E on an object for a while, release and you can drag it around, press again to release.

As for the number key shortcuts:

Favorite the stuff you want to shortcut.
Close your inventory.
Open favorite page.
Click the item you want to hotkey and press the appropriate number key you want to assign.

Only 8 items can be hotkeyed, which is a joke...

And there is no easy way to know what hot key is responsible for what action.

You can hotkey them. If you're using default pc settings. In your inventory favorite your items you'll be using with "F". Then outside the inventory pressing "Q" brings up a small favorite list in the left corner. You highlight what you want in that favorite list and press the number you want it to be hotkeyed to. Then all you do is press the number to switch to it during live combat.

Press Q, see what number is next to what spell/item/power, press Tab.

Ummmm, its really not that hard.

There is only 8 hotkeys, if you can't remember what each key is after

an hour of gameplay than you are probably smoking too much hooch.
