OK, here is my situation with these games. On COD4 and W@W I can maintain K-d ratio over 3.00 easily. I mean I can turn on music and vaguely pay attention to the game and still do this. I even tried it recently putting the old games in, and I can still do it.

However in MW2 and now in Black Ops, I just svck. I cant even break even my K-d is around .67 which is quite terrible. I don't understand what the problem is, because the games are all pretty much the same thing. Was there some kind of major game-play tweak that occurred that I just totally missed? Do any of you guys have a similar experience? Lastly can you maybe give me some pointers? I dont mind being bad, but not understanding why I'm bad is making me nuts.

I found Black Ops actually the easiest out of them all. When I played, I maintained a 3.00 k/d with no sweat. Not sure what to tell ye.

MW2 and Blops were extremely complicated in comparison to CoD4 and WaW. By this, I mean there's a stupid amount of different weapon attachments, perks, equipment, etc., this is one of the main reasons so many people prefer CoD4 to any of the recent ones.

Apart from that, Blops and MW2 are just very different from the others, in that you need to shape your strategy to counter all of the new items. Be prepared to deal with AK74-u noobs camping every corner, a claymore around every corner, and so on.

I'm the opposite, I was bad at CoD 4, and W@W, but good at MW2 and BO. The only thing I can think of is the pace of the game and the way the guns handle. 4 and W@W were very similar, and the formula changed with MW2 and BO. I Feel like BO and MW2 are faster paced compared to the other two, and also the guns handle differently. What I do is try to pace myself and not rush too much, or else I get killed alot.

Its like on COD4 I feel like I can control my own destiny, I am a HELL of a shot. I also feel like the shotguns in COD4 were how shotguns should be in an FPS, they totally svck in the others. In Black Ops, I can play really carefully and break even or go over, occasionally win, but I feel like it has more to with luck than ability, and its totally inconsistant. I can play a stage one way and go 22-1 and then play it again with the same weapons and stragety and get rocked, and its because there is constantly someone right behind me, or I hit every claymore on the map.

What I dont get is the inconsistancy. I cannot put together successive good games.


In call of duty 4 you can dot hunt, and if your the better shot, you will win. In Black Ops if you try that, you get nailed by every damn thing. Maybe I should play hardcoe.

Just keep in mind shotguns are a very "hit or miss" thing in Blops; you'll probably either do amazing, or barely get any kills at all. They're much, much less efficient than in CoD4 or MW2.

A fully auto dominates at any range, in any situation. If you want consistency, stick with assault rifles, I'd say.

For the claymore part: Flak Jacket is like a damn miracle. If you're dealing with claymores, use Flak Jacket, it's a Tier 1 perk. You usually won't die from a direct RC explosion while using FJ, either.

I use Flak Jacket, Slide of Hand, and Tactical Mask, and For some reason the Einfield feels best to me, but I still only got like .88 with it. Its like something sublte happened between cames that made my playing style no longer valid, and I cant figure out what to do to win consistantly in BO.


Yes and why the hell cant COD make a decent shotgun? The COD4 Shotties were THE BUISSNESS! W@W Trench Gun was managable if you got on to it, but in MW2, forget it, and like you said in BO Sometimes the Olympia can kill form a city block, and other times itll miss point blank. Its so inconsistent, WTH happened?




Lastly, everything I read says that COD4 was still the best, and I agree 100%, so why are people buying this cancer? Im going to try out Killzone Multiplayer more extensively. I rarely read anything good about COD games after COD4 except for [censored] L33t players.

I haven't played black ops or any COD in sooooo long but this is what i remember of it... I had a really good KD in black ops... then i unlocked the crossbow and erm... all i did was use the crossbow and lets just say the good 'ol KD dropped significantly. But honestly my memory of the multiplayer in Black Ops and MW2 are mixed together and I can't really differentiate between them. I think Black ops is the one with the remote controlled bomb car (rcxd something or the other)... use that and you will be golden.

This is what Im chalking it up to, and you can say want.

In black ops, the path to success is to use Famas (Silencer+Red Dot), Ghost, Warlord, and hacker. Or and LMG with Flak Jacket, and camp with both.

The reason is that MW2 and Black Ops are causal friendly. You dont really win them with your stragety you win them with superior equipment, and luck (good team/lots of camp traffic). You can get a consist positive K-d ratio if you camp. Or if you are GODLY at the game.

What happened is the gap between Amazing players and average players is bigger. I was decent but I wasnt a GOD in COD4 and W@W.

Core Team Deathmatch is basically a bunch of average players camping and one or 2 awesome players with AK47u running around de-camping everyone else. It just isnt fun to me, so I am done playing Black Ops. Ill be back on COD4 and W@W.

I think BO is an improvement over MW2 though. Atleast you can't use Tactical Insertion on Free-for-all anymore. I spent more time on MW2 Free-for-all killing boosters than anyone else.

Tip: Never, at any point in a match, can you be doing nothing, not thinking, or not worrying.

I think that because weapons kill so much faster you just cant run and gun like you do in COD4. I can do OK in BO if I go really slow, but I just get bored doing that, so I think Ill play it when I feel exceptionally tactical, and play COD4 the majority of the time.

This is what it was like for me. Like someone said though, the amount of attachments in these games are kind of overwhelming. Its one of the reasons I couldn't get into Black Ops -- I didn't want to invest in the time to learn/remember all of that stuff.

Now that everyone's moved on to BO, I actually very rarely find Boosters or Hackers on MW2

I agree with Suffca, I find Blops a lot easier than any of the others. I maintained a K/D ratio of about 2.10-ish in Blops when I was playing it, whereas the highest I ever got to in MW2 was about 1.60-ish. I was considerably worse at both COD4 and WAW (although playing them on the PC is probably part of the reason for that).

Yeah no offense to anyone here, but the AK74 is about the most skill-less gun in the game. I'm getting rather sick of the entire enemy team being Famas users or AK74 users, gets very old.

I'm not very good at FPS and so I have a 1.00 kd. I mainly switch between the Galil and AUG, depending on the circumstances.

Black Ops is the one game in the series that I don't like. I wasn't a fan of WaW either really, but Black Ops was the pits. I still did well on it, I just didn't find it fun :shrug: For all the glitches, MW and MW2 are the best ones (after the original 2)

The reason you're having a tougher time with MW2 and BLOPS might be because of the heavily induced killstreaks in both games. They can be over powering and cause havoc to your kdr unlike MW that only had 5 I believe. In MW2 there was the AC130 that shredded everyone even if you wernt visable to it. Along with all the other killstreaks, noob tubes, thumpers, nades, with One Man Army and Scavenger pretty much forced people to camp, especially if you were on a bad team. Same goes with BLOPS with UAV's, Huey's, Blackbirds, Rolling thunder, motion sensors, dogs, Gunships, and yes, even the RC-XD. That thing has killed me more than any other killstreak in the game.

So in my opinion all these killstreaks, if you're not looking to camp at least a little bit, then be prepaired to have a poor kdr. That's just my thoughts on your problem.

Can someone please tell me, what is fun about running around like idiots, shooting people with a full magazine before they die?

It never takes me a full magazine to kill anybody. Three bullets is what you should be aiming for. One if possible. You're doing it wrong if it's taking a clip a kill.

I dunno maybe I'm just bad at it. Maybe it's because i play to much Operation Flashpoint.. Oh well.

So today I got it together... finally. I have consistantly been putting out 1.2 or better, and in one game got Heli, Chopper Gun, and dogs.

This is what works for me, I use an LMG and move behind my team is sort of a hunting line, My job it so cover flanks. I dont usually put up HUGE numbers, but I have a very nice K-d going now (From .89 to .95 now). Playing hardcoe for a while made CORE so dirt easy now. Yeah, I got it now and its simple. Still not as fun as COD4.

Nothing stays in the air when I play. NOTHING! If I have to suicide to get more rockets to take down your planes/helis I will kill sit on my grenade or jump off the edge of the map.

I get real proud whenever I shoot down chopper gunners on nuketown.

One time I was playing nuketown and aiming up at the chopper gunner, guy runs out of the house with this gun pointed at me and I yelled "Don't shoot me", he stoped, said "What", I got my shot off and then he killed me lololo (FFA match) Was jokes.
