Quick Lil' Brink Review

Post » Mon Jan 10, 2011 4:26 am

GOOD:
-Customization: The options are limitless on the customization aspect of the game. On the downside, most everything has to be unlocked, including heavy and light body types.
-Music: I don't know who composed this score, but they are a musical genius!
-Graphics: The art style of the game is(as we knew) truly unique and helps differentiate it from other games.
-SMART: It works like a charm. It is a little confusing if you've played other shooters, since the SMART button is L2(On PS3) rather than L3, but you'll get used to it fast.

BAD:
-AI: Just awful. They don't seem to have any idea what they are doing.
-Dialogue: While the level is loading there is a voice briefing of the mission's back story. Sadly, I couldn't hear any of it. Thus I was confused on what was happening in the mission.
-Confusing: While playing, I found myself slightly confused by all the voice pvssyr between the AI, as they are all talking at once. I suspect this won't be a problem during online play though.

about being confused i guess your new to splash damages titles(w:et or quake wars). There is a steep learning curve that takes a while to get used to, but don't worry, persist and things will become easier.

Persistence in this generation of gamers? Good luck.

Better to say how much the game svcks, complain about how grenades are pointless, and cry about the maps forcing you to the exact same spot than to actually adapt or learn how to play the game as the developer intended. Sadly the reviewers suffer from the same idiocy in most cases as meeting a deadline matters more than providing a fair opinion.

Yes, I am new to Splash Damage. Glad to hear it's one of those things you adapt to.

I never expected the AI to be downright diabolically genius, but I've been hearing a lot of bad things. Especially when 99% of the verdict from hands-on previews was that people didn't even know the other players were bots. It seems like on Medium difficulty, from gameplay footage, is enough to give a total newbie a really hard time, but I hope Hard is actually hard, or that the AI scales in competence the higher you level-up.
