Quick NoM question

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 11:10 am

I had NoM installed. After installing Abot's water life, I noticed that the two were very compatible and I could actually use the fish added from that mod for cooking. Their compatibility wasn't mentioned in the NoM ReadMe's, I think, so what other mods are compatible like this with NoM if any? I know there are chicken eggs in NoM, so would The Wilderness (or some similar mod) allow me to loot eggs or beef from chickens & cows etc instead of buying them from a store?

In short, I am just wondering how many mods have this type of compatibility with NoM.

Any mod that uses the resources of NoM will work alongside NoM. (as long as NoM loads after the mod)
If the eggs are not originally from NoM then the object's ID won't be recognized as eatable food.

But I do believe Morrowind Crafting food can be used with NoM. (can't recall, it's been awhile)

Taddeus has worked very hard to make sure that NoM is compatible with as many other mods as possible. When you download NoM, you might notice a folder named "compatibility" in the download. that is there so that other modders can use NoM resources.

The best place for info is the thread about NoM which is lurking around here on the forum. It's probably in the first 3 or 4 pages.

[EDIT] You can find that thread http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1142629-rel-necessities-of-morrowind-30/

(also fixed some spelling weirdness)[/EDIT]

What mods use resources of or are compatible with NoM? More specifically, are there any mods that add animals like chickens/cows/pigs etc that work with NoM?

What mods use resources of or are compatible with NoM?

There are a few that use the resources (which means they add compatible food) but not many come into my mind right now. http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7817 is an example. If you use NoM, the food at the Inn can be used as NoM food. (otherwise they're just normal ingredients)
I think Annastia has NoM food in it.... and does Wizards Isles? I can't remember if it uses NoM resources or not.

Almost all mods are compatible with NoM, unless they change the ID's of all the standard ingredients.

More specifically, are there any mods that add animals like chickens/cows/pigs etc that work with NoM?

That work with NoM? I am not sure. But the easiest way to find out would be to download the most http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8707 of NoM and check the ReadMe (or the "compatibility" folder... or check the recent NoM Thread here)

I think one of the creature mods has NOM compatibility, but I'm not sure which and I don't use it so I don't know if it has cows or pigs or whatever. The best place to check this out, seriously, would be the NOM thread here as you will then have the benefit of seeing what other people have asked about.

Also, several housing mods are completely NOM compatible. One of my favorites is Wizard's Rest in Sadrith Mora as it has a NOM oven, grill, and all cooking utensils available and easy to use. Another one that is good is Ashlander's Tent. Same ease for cooking.
