A quick question for experienced modders

I'm making a daedric battle-ax with the wabbajack on hit enchantment. I'd also like to have an npc follow it as a guardian of the ax similar to the staff of everscamp where scamps follow you if you carry it.

I've changed the ax texture to a blourish green hue, slightly more saturated and slightly brighter

I'm learning nifscope now. I intend to learn how to assign the new texture to an item

I've made a custom wabbajack enchantment and put it on a duplicated daedric Battleax item

I have yet to create the npc who's job it is to guard the ax but he's all designed on paper.




My question is.... Will giving my npc an accompany behavior targeted at the ax work the way I want it to or will the npc abandon the behavior as soon as the player picks up the ax? I just want the npc to stay near wherever the weapon is at all times regardless of any situation or who holds it.


Any help at all would be most appreciated.
