Quick question for how many hours you've put in

Post » Sat Dec 19, 2015 12:01 pm

Okay, been reading a lot on the forums about the amount of hours people have put in and those who haven't and in "seeing everything the game has to offer".
To the people who have sunk tons of hours in, do you do a lot of settlements?
To the people who have "seen almost everything" but not that many hours in, do you do a lot of settlements?

221 according to Steam. I enjoy the game, despite the flaws and features I don't like that much, but overall, it is solid. I keep settlement things to a minimum.

8 + days, yes I have sunk a lot of time into settlements, not as much as just aimlessly wandering the wastes seeing what there is to pillage or shoot in the face

Having over 200 hours in, the most I've touched with the settlement building are some walls for Sanctuary and building some resources. Haven't actually committed to building anything substantial. Most of my time spent wandering the wasteland, doing quest, all of that Fallout stuff. And there is still plenty for me to see and do. Albeit I am one to take my time to do things at my own pace.

First character ~124 hours. Settlement heavy, less than 50% of locations discovered (even less fully explored), main story complete. Level 57.

Second character ~156 hours. Very minimum settlement stuff, in most cases do the quest to unlock, plop down turrets and leave. Have discovered and explored about 75% of marked locations, main story incomplete. (~50%) Level 72. Won't enter the glowing sea until level 75. Waiting for patches/Preston fixes before I build nice things again. Much more fun this time around for me.

according to Steam, 159 hours so far but I know its more then that. Steam only tracks your hours when it is online and I played a bit with it offline.

other then the occasional CTD I'm really enjoying this game. Maybe more then I had expected to in fact and I am a huge fan of the series.

275ish according to Steam last night.

225 on my first character, in the vanilla no mods playthrough (full map revealed, nothing but radiant quests left that I can find), and 50ish on my second with lotsa mods.

Hmm, low-mid 100 range? (120-40ish) Finished MQ recently, am now wandering around exploring things. Still plenty of locations I haven't seen (only have half the bobbleheads, not sure about magazines). Did a bit of settlement stuff, but not a huge amount (founded a bunch, stuck basic water/food/defenses on them. Only just recently tried building a large house for myself at the Drive-in.)

209 hours and taking a break until the mod tools are out. I like the building aspect quite a lot having sunk a lot of hours into 7 Days to Die,

why would i want to be stuck with some preset house when i can build a base with my own personal touch. It's a massive time sink.

There's a mod over on the nexus for building elevators now, I'm tempted to jump back in... oh so tempted.

128 hours. I've done a small bit of settlement building with my water farm at The Slog (two hours maybe) but at most other settlements they're lucky if I plant a mutfruit and throw up a turret nowadays. I'm constantly getting settlement attacks even at places with few resources and tons of defense so I don't bother building anymore.

What I've spent all of my playtime the last few days is finding an ending that doesn't completely piss me off. No luck with that so far so it looks as though I will never "finish" the game.

I'm right there with. I've got around the same amount of time in and have yet to get to the glowing sea, or found the railroad, or taken the castle yet. I've fiddled with settlements and it's something I've wanted in a Fallout game since tactics, but I've been holding off getting to far into settlement building in the hopes they clean it up and make settlements more robust in the near future.

Same, except in my case I have started the game with more than 1 character to test builds and pick up the most fun. I had a first run to finish the main quest with what I thought I would enjoy the most, it turns out it was also the best. So I am on survival mode now taking my time to go slow.

Ah, hours? ..hmm, all of them? Anyway, first character was fast playthrough to see the 'ending.' Second character was settlement building, but finding it rather tedious I built a third character to 'max out,' hitting up every location methodically and exploring, etc. The latest character I am truly trying to maximize, taking advantage of exploits to get all of my stats as high as possible, grinding out companion perks, etc. I hope to find more Agility + Perception gear for sneaking and shooting, but my accuracy is already insane (largely thanks to a certain perk) and reaching 22 Perception (19 during the day, with current gear).

215 hours between 2 PTs. Both characters are around 30th lvl. Current play through is slowly building up a few settlements at a time and making them nice but not over the top. Time is probably pretty evenly distributed between building and exploring/doing quests. Haven't finished killing Kellogg yet (yes Dogmeat is stuck outside the fort forever, I feel bad about that), but have done a ton of RR quests (to get deliverer and ballistic weave), a few brotherhoods and a decent amount of exploring (haven't done the bottom 3rd of the map, minutemen or institute yet). It's interesting to be able to delay the arrival of all the vertibirds by not finishing Kellogg and explore the wastelands without the BOS all over the place.
