A quick question on hardware

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 10:50 am

I just downloaded Oblivion for PC, I had it for PS3 before and loved it so I decided to download it from Steam for my PC.

I already have Skyrim, it defaults to high settings with my current setup.

AMD FX-4100 Quad Core 3.6GHz
8GB DDR3 1333
AMD Radeon 6670 1GB

Oblivion defaults to medium settings, is this something everyone experiences? I manually set it to ultra-high and I'm playing at 1920x1080. So far I don't see any hiccups, can I expect it to get difficult later?

I have about the same specs as you and I even run with half your RAM and I experience no problems at all. I do have a lower resolution though but mainly because I don′t want everything to be so tiny

If Oblivion the hardware is new than what was available when Oblivion was released, then it does not recognize the hardware and defaults to medium specs.

You should have no problem with ultra high settings.

Also, for Anti Aliasing (AA) and HDR, The game says it doesn't support both. But you can get both by setting HDR in the Oblivion settngs. Then go to the graphics card control panel and override the settings for Oblivion for AA.

Thanks for the input, I hadn't thought of the hardware not being recognized. So far so good on ultra-high though.
