i realllllly reallllly reallllllly want to use the OBlivion contruction set and make something! i have no previous experience with 3d modeling or anything of the sort, and i was wondering, do i NEED oblivion for pc in order to use the set, and if i dont, how do i open/use the program? my laptop has 1.86 ghz processor and 1 gb of ram but im not going be doing anything serious i just wana try out the construction set and learn to do basic stuff

You need the retail PC version if you want the CS. If you're wondering if your laptop can run Oblivion, post a dxdiag. However, based off of solely your processor, I'm going to make a wild guess and say no.

Well, you need the game disk. You have to buy the retail version of the game, as in an actual disk. The CS doesn't come with the steam version or any other D2D version.

The problem is, it seems sort of pointless to use the CS without being able to run the game. You'd never be able to know if what you were making actually worked. If you really wanted to get experience out of the CS, you'd sort of need to be able to play the game...
